Unzip software is supposed to give a prompt that a file is going to be overwritten, to mitigate that.

Even funnier if it had 6507 or 6502 backers, considering the actual chip used in the Atari 2600.
I checked back for a few days and noticed the funding amount slowed down drastically after it hit $2 Million. Apparently people realized it'd make more sense to buy a $15 Raspberry Pi and load it with games than to buy a $200+ device loaded with an unknown mix of Atari 2600 games. Now if it included 5200/7200/8-bit/ST/Lynx/Jaguar games, then it would be something that hasn't been released before. It's way over-spec give most people are buying it for the Atari 2600 games, few are going to care about the Unity etc. games.

  6. Re:HDCP will doom it by stifling game exposure on Atari Launches Linux Gaming Box Starting at $199 (linux.com) · · Score: 1

This Atari VCS device supports Twitch streaming. There are enough videos on Youtube of every Atari 2600 game that noone will be missing anything. Some other games may be ported to the device... but there will already be Youtube videos for those.
The Playstation 3 enabled HDCP for every game (until a patch near the end of its life) IIRC.

A guaranteed minimum income to raise everyone to the poverty level makes more sense to me. It'd cost far less, for one thing, and if the assessment is done frequently enough it'd (quickly) cover people who had a well-paying job but became unemployed.
Of course the poverty level is far too low, so it'd have to raise people to like 150% of the poverty level.

One day we'll accept that it's cheaper and better to send some people a kilo of weed and a $500 PSN giftcard than to deal with the consequences of what they're doing when they're NOT high and staying home being entertained.

It's unlikely many people will attempt to game the neural net by intentionally acting like a destitute person, if they're able to avoid it; and the neural net can distinguish those cases from those who really need it, anyhow.

This isn't secret. You can actually go into the Alexa app and listen to voice clips of everything you've ever said to your Alexa devices. The clip even starts with the person saying 'Alexa' so there's a buffer which gets added to the recording once it detects you're addressing it. Sometimes you can even hear voice clips from other people talking to their own Alexa devices on other accounts, although customer support claims this is rare.
