I don't see a mention of 100 beta test users. Just "a small number of email aficionados." But I still like your idea. It certainly would make sense that a Google employee would be, in Page's alleged words, "kvetch" about internal email.
Since when do serious press releases contain a quote like "Heck, Yeah" from a company's founders? Business Wire gives this press release a time of just about 0:00GMT - the start of April Fools Day. Page's tone in the release's first quote is far too conversational for a corporate product launch - "kvetched"? "delete email like crazy"? I'm going to say it's a joke. And if it's not, this post was a joke.
eMusic is on life support. The major indies haven't put up new releases in months, even many smaller labels have stopped updating their catalogs. All that's left are no-name artists from bottom of the barrel labels.
So, basically, the FCC won't touch you unless you do something that they don't like? That is not hands off. Either he's going to control what can and cannot be broadcast, or he isn't. You can't have it both ways.

NO, it was not a redundant comment. You see, you claimed that the chip did not run at 1700GHz. That is the equivalent of 1,700,000MHz. Well, of course it doesn't run that fast! My comment ("Indeed.") was a reflection on that fact, and also on your misuse of GHz where MHz should have been used.
iTunes claims "over" 500000 songs. Napster claims the same, MusicMatch advertises 360000, and BuyMusic says 327000. How this gives iTunes 10x as many songs as the other three combined is a mystery to me.
Yeah, there are people who think that this might be useful and worthwhile. But not everyone does. Why, as you suggest, should people who don't think this is a worthwhile project not say anything about it? There's no need to uncritically praise anything put up on the front page. Just because you see worth in a project, doesn't mean everyone else does or should.
The pressure won't be there until the OSS alternative actually is better than the TI software.

Grab the raw data from the scanner and store it. Then when you're clearing out the account, just feed this raw data to the server. If someone is willing to purchase an ATM and mod it to grab PINs, forcing them to mod it to grab data from a retinal scanner instead is not going to stop them from running their scam.
It specifically address spam in the third bullet point: "And it turns annoying spam e-mail messages into the equivalent of canned meat."

Hmm... a shady Russian website that probably doesn't give shit to artists. How can I resist?
How are they going to arrest the RIAA? Handcuff the front door?
Don't mod parent down. Pointing out text found in the article's link is not trolling, and it is not flamebait.

Looks like someone wants an insightful mod.
I'd rather vote left...
Pale-skinned slashdotters getting off on case porn? Hell, I would be if the damn thing weren't down already.

More than you could ever possibly view, maybe. Wimp.
Thank you.

No, I got it the first time.

Indeed.
Yeah, because a home sound system and a portable music player are totally comparable.

I've handled an iPod, Rio Karma, Nomad Zen Xtra, and Dell Jukebox, and none of them felt "shoddy" - especially the Zen, which seemed quite solid.

I just don't get it! If you don't like the ACLU, your problem is with the courts who keep ruling in their favor.
