With ARM's new Cortex-A8 processor, why haven't I been seeing more micro-desktops and power efficient laptops and whatever based around this technology?
Now that Lightwave has a native OSX build, I can imagine all the 3D graphics nuts out there using Lightwave creaming themselves over machines like this. Or hell, anyone using largely multi-threaded apps would cream for a machine like this.
For nine years I ran Debian. Then, a few people convinced me to switch to Ubuntu. For one year I used Ubuntu, and I hated it, and I switched back. Now I am back on Debian, and I love it. Then, like many people, I decided to blog about it.
Its not like the community doesn't try. We have two popular channels on OFTC, #embedded and #gumstix, that cater to nothing but the Linux embedded crowd.
I completely agree. Microsoft attempts to move too fast in completing their products, and often horribly botch them. They also have been known to "Embrace and Extend" someone else's product or standard, marring it in the process, and completely ignoring the concept of standards in the first place; standards in the technology world mostly exist to make things compatible, Microsoft's "embrace and extend" usually ends up with an incompatible standard or protocol.
Even though you mention this in a somewhat rude way, you're right. In addition to this, the method of using an s-video cable wouldn't help much either, s-video is also analog.
Americanatavist mentions possibly using a simple s-video transfer as the solution; not only can this cause sub-par quality compared to a digital extraction rip, the extraction would not be digital due to the fact that s-video is analog.
Even then, D&D books don't cost that much. I've seen decent used copies in book stores for less than $5 a peice, and I've also seen them in PDF form on the Internet.
Many GPL/LGPL'ed programs and libraries use a rcsid type of system. Every file something like static char rcsid = "@(#) $Id: file.c,v 1.7 2002/04/11 14:35:13 username Exp $";
in them. Its easy to take them out, but some people who steal code are to ignorant to take them out, and they only help when people steal whole files, but are they still worth using to id code?
Sam Latinga's full time job _isnt_ to devlop SDL. Infact, Blizzard pays him to do things that arnt even related to SDL. And when Microsoft buys out Blizzard, Sam Latinga will continue coding closed source projects. (And taking note of what happened to Bungie, the majority of the work will probably be xbox titles)

Well, there is always the iBrator, the most, uh, "friendly" of USB devices.

So, was Douglas Adams wrong in his famous trilogy of five?
I wrote an article like this 6 months ago: The Downfall of Sega Part 1 and Part 2
Of course, I bet http://www.makepatrickrich.com/ will be using it way before most websites will

That password seems to be quite useless, because you cannot log in as root! Ubuntu has no root account!
According to this insider's blog, Microsoft has stole Gorm, among other open source software.

... he didn't really get this award for creating the character known as Jar Jar Binks.
I'm not sure if Microsoft's motto is that, or orbis non sufficit (latin for "The world is not enough").
Or did I misinterpret the last sentence, and what was actually meant was that the rush for money makes us abstain from food to do the job right?
Like you've never forgotten to eat because you were playing Quake^W^Wcoding on that project your boss wanted to work on.
