    Religion is toxic, and one of the great accomplishments of the Maoists was to damage its influence in China.

    While it is rare that a national government is in the enviable position to oppose superstition, I support their efforts against backwardness. One day anti-religion may be regarded as visionary.

    As long as Photoshop is the standard and Adobe doesn't go insane with copy protection, there is no (non-ideological) reason for most users not to use Photoshop on Windows systems.

    As with Office 97, being able to use a legal copy at work yet pay nothing for home use makes the parent company a fucktillion dollars by chumming the market.

    If Adobe moves to heavy copy protection they will lose market share.

    I had to deal with Hellmouth-creating asshole students when I was in school and would have been delighted to have the system hammer them into the fucking ground or boot them out. I was finally able to escape to private school where I thrived.

    Children do NOT automatically self-discipline without IMPOSED discipline (neither do adults, which is why military Basic training is vital to team function) and some will never do that anyway.

    That's the only way left so expect it to become "normal". Peaceful change won't happen so anyone wanting to fight must do so under less-traditional conditions using less-traditional methods.

    When an opponent has overwhelming conventional forces, the only to negate that deterrence is to refuse to be deterred.

    Food for thought:
    This is the least expensive way to fight. The effort to PRESERVE ones troops can become a handicap.

    Plenty of people work on "old" cars and trucks for utilitarian reasons. (In my area a forty-year-old truck is a common work vehicle.) It saves a shitload of money and will in future.

    I get very well "paid" to service and repair my (old and newer) vehicles and am not alone as the enormous DIY market demonstrates. That won't change. Auto labor is expensive and compared to that quality tools are quite reasonable.

    BTW:
    The computers in new cars are only a barrier if you decide they are a barrier. Modern car systems are mostly well-documented and not terribly difficult to work on. Don't be intimidated.

    Piss off. It's also perfectly reasonable for employers to fire criminals. If someone cannot be trusted not to loot and burn, why should anyone be obliged to retain them in any position of trust?
