The superman analogy was nothing more than that, an analogy. A more accurate scenario would be something falling off the vehicle (be it something in the back, a lose muffler, the bumper, etc) It could also be something the car ran over (branch, board with nails, etc) that they either cleared or didn't notice that if YOU hit would cause an accident/damage. If something like that falls off, the item generally stops moving withing a few feet which incidentally would be about the depth of the crumple zone had they hit superman.
Oh, by the way, if there is a front-end collision (that you can't see coming for what-ever reason), you can bet your ASS (figuratively and literally) that it will stop DEAD!
That's why we need cops to enforce the law. If everyone that blocked the intersection got a ticket, the "move around you" phenomenon would be greatly reduced.
In Canada (and I'm 95% sure in the US) it is 100% legal to drive through a yellow light given "(A or B) and C and D"
A) You can not stop in time
B) You make it through before it goes red
C) You do not ACCELERATE in order to do so (cops watch your front bumper to see if it goes "up" indicating acceleration)
D) You are not speeding (which will get you a ticket either way)
Really? I dare you to tell a non-tech person that the computer they JUST bought is 10 years out dated. I know this is Apple here, but MS is also trying to get people to dump it. If they wanted people to dump it now, they should have stopped selling it FIVE YEARS AGO!
Here's a thought, If something is time sensitive either A) don't use e-mail or B) Have the *intended* recipient reply when they get it so you know it went through. Not bashing you, just the idiot that (if this is true) filed the suit.
Darn, that's too bad. I just found this really cool game. You start with an empty text file and the goal is to combine keywords and codes in order to create a procedural algorithm that produces an environment containing further goals for others to complete.
Hmm, interesting, I didn't even know single-number accounts were available up here. May investigate that. Sounds like you could easily make that 1 number your home number then route that through an Asterisk server and get VERY cheap long distance/everything...
Yeah, I've got DD-Wrt on my router (no open-wrt support for the N), but when companies finally start releases *consumer* routers with IPv6 enabled by default, I'm not so sure they will have the same protection as a NAT (which dose prevent outsiders from exploiting numerous ports left open by Windows).
I find it funny that yahoo even attended. They are no longer anything more than a front-end to byng with msn-style news (read: ignored) and an e-mail service that is quickly dying just as quickly.
Yeah, let's just give a big middle finger to all the financially suffering families out there that can't afford a new computer and are still using old Win98 (or worse) that has NO support fox IPv6. And before anyone goes on a tangent about using 13 year old software, 99% of people have no apparent (to them) reason to pay for a new computer just for the "shinny" factor.
Which is the only thing I'm leary about with IPv6 (other than not being able to roll your/64 over). Most people are told that a good hardware router will be enough to keep incoming attacks (ignoring browser drivebys) at bay. With IPv6, everyone is going to need a DECENT firewall on every machine in their home. Many people simply don't.
Sounds like this was in England. Here in Canada it would literally be cheaper to pay for a land line DEDICATED to the doorbell than to got cell connection for 2 minutes of talking per day.
Vandalism? Really? They attached some signboard to a TEMPORARY FACADE, of which the only purchase is to cover the building while under construction. Had they done this to the building itself, you MIGHT have a point, given that the signboard were attached in a way that A) was reasonably difficult to remove or B) actually damages the building (nails, etc).
It's over-reacting like yours that has made the world see the US as a place where you can get sued for looking at someone funny. Thankfully I like in Canada where we have Justice's of the Peace that screen cases for stupid crap and tell the plaintive to screw off. Saves a TON of time/money the courts can use elsewhere.
If you are talking about the BPA scare, please educate yourself. The BPA does NOT leach out unless you have hot (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc) or acidic (coffee, citrus juices, pop) liquids in them. Plain water is 100% PERFECTLY SAFE in BPA bottles.
It is true however that reusing disposable water bottles CAN leach chemicals, so if that was what you meant, then ok. Just remember, those bottles are only designed to be used once, and in rather short order.
So how much of this is crap do you actually believe and how much did you pull out of your ass?
Slow? When is the last time you USED it? I used OO.o calc 2 years ago to do 3d rendering (via the graphs) using 1000x1000 point and transformation matrices. And I never ONCE found it slow. Not in rendering (believe me, there was some HEAVY math in there) nor scrolling (with a logitech fast-scroll mouse it didn't even lag behind at full speed). This "OO.o if slow" BS is just that, BS. The only remotely slow part about it is startup (2-3 seconds on my laptop), but if you turned off Window's "start half of office at logon before even launching the app", you would see the same thing there.
Codebase: Sure it has a large code base, I'd be worried if it DIDN'T. OO.o handles spreadsheets, presentation animations, MANY MANY document formats, database manipulation, etc. Tell me, when's the last time you saw MS Office's codebase for comparison? Oh yeah, that's right...
Sun/Novel: Sure almost all the *money* came from Sun/Novel, but did you bother to check where the CODING came from?!? The fact that LibreOffice has pushed more updates out with more bugfixes in the last 2 months than they did in the last YEAR before splitting off should tell you something. Also take a look at their blog which has a meaningful post every 2-3 days.
It's behind? Really? The only area where LibreOffice is "behind" MS Office is dumping a familiar, easy to use interface for a convoluted disaster of a non-menued system that had people jumping ship when MS did it. Tell me, who was the first (between OO.o and MS Office) to introduce collaborative editing on spreadsheets, or a presentation mode for slideshows? How about a PROPER inheritance oriented class system for document formatting? Yeah keep telling yourself MS is ahead in Office breakthroughs while you admire the technologic breakthroughs of the Zune!
I get the same thing with multiple accounts. I only want alerts for my main account, but can't find any way to stop getting alerts for accounts I simply have for helping the owner of that account when they need help (it an order-received account that gets LOTS of e-mails).
Twice as small? Is that even a valid statement?!?

From what I hear it's a implementation of silverlight just as much as IE6 was an implementation of HTML.
Neither my Acer laptop (full-size aspire series) nor either of the eee's in our house have ANY king of indication that the webcam is in use.

I wonder if a large portion of that is people connecting with smartphones/iphones. Might be something to look for next time you fly.

Quite true. About the only way consumers can get a machine that will be competitive in 10 years is to buy 10 of them and cluster them. :P

Everyone's homepage gets randomly set to meatspin... The president of the company has everyone's password for a reason.
So he can set their homepage to meatspin?
