Vmware is by far the best in class virtualization product and on top of that they have made it very easy to use. I think they could really do great things with suse in addition to Zimbra and their document collaboration suit they can be a big MS competitor.

But I am guessing Sony has turned off the USB ports during boot along with some other security updates so they will need to come up with a new exploit and it has taken 5 years so far. I am sure someone can find something sooner than later but it won't be soon. I just wonder if people will get their consoles banned if Sony detects they are using the hack on a PS3.

This is a perfect time to install VMWARE. You could even use the free ESXi and convert the server to a VM then you don't even need to worry about drivers. VMWARE is great for those old systems that are solid but if the hardware dies you would be SOL.

Also WYSIWYG editors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG) don't work on the iPad so that means you can only make blog posts in plain text with no formating or manually type in the html. Also if you want to edit content that used a WYSIWYG editor you have to scroll through tons of html to find what you want to edit. This is fine for me I know html but you can sure as hell bet my wife won't do it. Also you have to specifically encode video's to the format the iPad wants to play. Even if it is an MP4 it needs to be no more than 30fps or it won't play. I don't want to convert all of my videos encoded in H.264, divx, and xvid. So much for it just works.

On Linux the 40GB drives are perfect for the boot partition where most of your programs are installed and then install a second larger drive for the "/home" directory and "swap". This should help your drive last a lot longer as you will not be putting as many writes to the SSD.

I remember in College we used a program called "Deep Freeze" on the Lab computers. It had a stock image on it and every time the machine got rebooted it would go back to the original state. I think that combined with software that saves all of the transactions on a server that is protected should be fine. But they should really run some form of Linux if they can.

The driver included in most Linux distros these days can read it fine. But it is not perfect since Microsoft has released documentation on the NTFS file system it is only reverse engineered. However it is good enough to read from a USB drive for pictures. Why are these things not running Linux? It would be perfect for it. The only thing I can think is if they use some obscure printer that there is no driver in Linux.
