One of its agents has issued a warning about the popular practice of using chalk marks
The point of a referal link is so we can find out what you are talking about, not to send us to another page with another bad link explaining what Warchalking is.
Because its bull? You don't seem to realize that downloading music and movies off the net is only free if your time is worthless. It can take you weeks to download Spider-Man or Star Wars, only to find out that its a shitty copy that someone shot with a video camera in the theater, and some fatass walks in front of the screen during the middle of the movie.
Or you could just work another 3 hours at your part time job, and get an origional copy with all the cd artwork or the DVD extras.
But by trying to keep their obscene profit margins (like charging more for DVD than VHS though DVD's are cheaper to manufature, ship and stock) the industry makes it worth Joe User's time to go find a movie online.
Put a clause in their EULA that states that consumers could get refunds for installed copies of Windows if the consumer disagreed with the license, only to turn around and violate that license when the consumer requested his refund.
Name their PDA operating system in such a way that an abbreviation forms a word for a reaction to pain.
Fake a demonstration of how badly Windows is impared when Internet Explorer is removed for an anti-trust trial, and get caught.
And Microsoft would absolutely, positivly, not spend a couple hundred million marketing their upcomming consol system only to find out that someone else owned the trademark.
Yeah the hardware is a LOT faster on the pc side, but I'd have to disagree with you about DX looking better than OGL. Doom 3 is an OGL title and it's looking pretty damned good.
I bought an all in wonder Radeon for TV tuning and video capture, but it wont work with 2000 or XP so I had to put ME (ick) on my Asus K7 for it to capture.
Nvidia has a very good track record of putting out quality drivers. ATI has an even longer track record, but its in producing shit drivers for the hardware.

But just because something is long doesn't necessarily mean its good, but its what critics seem to go for. English Patient was long, pointless and boring and almost swept the ocsars.
Heaven forbid anybody have to stand up and defend what they believe.
I don't think you can strongly belive in something unless you can defend it in a rational conversation, but why thrust that burden on a child? Especially since a conversation between an athiest leaning child and a group of bible thumping kids will be anything but rational? Even more true when you throw in the burst of "patriotism" following 9/11. So not only is little John going be be called a satan worshiper for not saying the pledge, but a terrorist as well.
As a 20 something guy I can stand up to bible thumpers and tell them to fuck off if they try to give me shit for not beliving in god. But anybody who wants to throw that burden on a 7 or 8 or 11 year old also needs to fuck off.:)
I'm all for rational debates, but its hard enough to get adults to be rational about religion, much less little kids.
Um, no. Why force a young girl to defend her decision not to say the pledge to her fellow students and possibly the teacher as well? Do you not remember what a pressure cooker of peer pressure school is for kids?
I mean, if little Johnny's parents are upset about him being exposed to other beliefs, why not just explain to him that in their home, God means evolution, or DNA, or money, or something like that?
Because its totally unfair to the child. K-12 is a pressure cooker of peer pressure; why force a 7 year old kid who doesn't believe in god to say the pledge (and lie) or refuse to do so and justify it? If the kid sticks to his guns sooner or later some other kid will call him a "devil worshiper". How is that fair?
President Bush appointed the first African American
WTF does a persons race/gender/height/sexual orientation have to do with anything at all? I think George "is our children learning" Bush has gotten a Slashdot account.
just disagrees with breaking up Microsoft into two monopolies from one.
Except they wont be monopolies. As other people have pointed out, Microsoft leverages its products to take over the market. IE is the top browser because it was integrated into Windows. Office is the domminant office sweet because of big discounts if it was bundled with Windows. If MS gets broken up into an os company and an apps company they can't do that anymore.
His solution is to penalize Microsoft and force them to adopt different business practices
Which wouldn't do jack shit, and Jack's on his way out of town. Fining Microsoft or forcing them to open up the desktop wont take care of the core problem: MS using the os to leverage its apps and vice versa. If they are forbidden from doing 3 anti-compeditive business practices they'll just come up with 5 new ones to replace them.
That still doesn't make it theft. Theft is TAKING something you don't own without permission. Copyright infringment is COPYING something you don't own without permission. They're both illegal, but not the same thing at all.
Of course you can... aside from the difference in quality, they can make it convienient, because getting it free can be a pain in the ass. It took me days to get the last Manson album (lots of fake/bad tracks out there), a week for Soldier of Fortune 2 and longer than that for a decent copy of Spider-Man.
So you've just spent 6 days downloading a screener of AOTC, and Anakin is turning to the dark side when some fatass walks in front of the camera. Or you could just drive to the theater and pop $5 to see it on a big screen.....hmm wonder what most people would choose.

Why is this so difficult to accept?

Darn, missed that one, but I was going from the top of my head. :P
Mircrosoft would not:
Put a clause in their EULA that states that consumers could get refunds for installed copies of Windows if the consumer disagreed with the license, only to turn around and violate that license when the consumer requested his refund.

Yes, Microsoft thinks of everything.
;)
Incredibly expensive for the amount of storage you get for the price compared to other media (tape, cdr, hell even zip).
oh, one other thing...they're so freaking slow!
...unreliable, prone to failure, tiny capacity, expensive media.....that answer your question?
So which one is the soap salesman?

Probably "EverChest" because its an endless treasure chest for Sony from all those poor bastards who are addicted to the game.
But what if I don't want to go through RedHat? Why should I have to go through some company to roll my own distro?
But its a lot harder to pursuade other countries to give up things like landmines and sign pollution reducing treaties when the US refuses to do so.
Of course if the US gives up landmines it doesn't mean that say, North Korea will do so, but no one is saying that.

I've got an '82 Accord with 214,000 on it. :P

Riiight. 150 mill is chump change to the 2 billion of liquid assets that Apple had at the time.
But all of those things (cept for the funny name) are unforutnate neccesities in going to school. Getting up and saying the pledge is not.
Heaven forbid anybody have to stand up and defend what they believe.

Really nice but irrelevant as the Constitution, with that pesky bill of rights, is the basis for our government and not the Declaration.
Whats really insane is why the pledge as it stands wasn't struck down long, long ago.
I mean, if little Johnny's parents are upset about him being exposed to other beliefs, why not just explain to him that in their home, God means evolution, or DNA, or money, or something like that?
