Not true. Most of the tapers I've seen are using equipment setups that cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars. And usually those are the shows which sound great. Even at home. (Especially if it was a show you've been to. :^)

Excellent point. I hadn't really thought about thef lywheel placement but having them at the stations allows the trains to be 10 Volkswagen Bugs lighter. Also, most trains do their stopping and starting at or near the stations so this system could actually work.

I do not think that timing will be an issue since each train will charge and un-charge the flywheels as each approaches and leaves a station. This solution also allows for fewer modifications to the trains themselves.

True, while these questions do not answer "Can this candidate code well?" they can provide insight into how the candidate thinks. They are merely "thinking" questions and are only useful if the candidate thinks outloud. It lets you see how they think and how they attack a problem. Are they being logical? If they can logically put several thoughts together, they can code in most any language. Learning syntax is a given.

I recently received a Xitel MD-Port DG2 and it's one of the coolest devices I've seen in a while. It's basically an extreme subset of the Extigy since it only has optical out. It too connects via USB and it's a very small device. I can understand why the extra ports on the Extigy might be useful but for a home theater pc, the DG2 is exactly what you'd need. And it's only $60 (USD).

Having been to Nola and Pompeii, I would be quite amazed if they find bodies similar to those found in Pompeii. Nola is about 35-40 minutes away from Mt. Vesuvius by car (although your not travelling at 90kph all the time). I can only imagine that the citizens of Nola had enough time to flee to higher ground once they were away of the eruption. Pompeii, while not right at the base of the volcano, is much closer and it's a bit more understandable how people could be trapped in their homes.

Italy is quite amazing in that when ruins are found, they are generally left untouched. Rome is a great example of this in that there are vast ruins right in the downtown areas!! Imagine the businesses and contractors that were planning on building on those sites! Imagine the great many ruins hidden underneath all of the modern buildings! Yikes.

I've been thinking about getting a PC for my entertainment center for the same purposes and the only hurdle I see is how to physically control it. However, the solution is quite simple - use a wireless mouse. Whenever you need to use your entertainment PC, switch your receiver's video input and then just USE the PC.

Actually, the only real hurdle is making the PC look like it belongs in my entertainment center.
