While we're at it, why don't we make all vehicles run on all types of fuel, all applications run on all APIs and ABIs, and all mammals reproduce with each other and creating fertile offspring.
My fiancée and I have the same rule. We also have many others, but the electronic gadgets is probably the biggest. Right now we each have a computer in our rooms and they get in the way when one of us is staying over at the other's.
Not a computer one, but... my high school's music teacher had an ancient stereo amplifier that would make the sound muddy every few minutes. The solution was to knock on the case at a certain spot until the sound cleared up.
That one's probably a loose vacuum tube in the amp. That'd cause some interesting sound quality issues.
Well, I've hit a monitor because that's where the problem was! It had that God-aweful flyback transformer noise. Hitting it ever 15 minutes or so would make it go away for a while. Then it got fuzzy, so I bought an LCD instead of fixing it.
Just thought I'd throw this in: I've never had to install a floppy drive to install Linux or BSD. I need one every time I install XP (on my own computer) to load additional drivers.
Was the accusation something like "How many computers have you installed this software on?", or was it "You have installed this software on too many computers.".
When I called them, as I've had to do from time to time, they ask how many machines it's on. I say one. They say thank you and activate it. No big deal.
Why, HP did just that- Bill and Dave were engineers. Every CEO until Carly had an engineering background. ANd until she became CEO, the company did well. Hmm, I wonder if there's a connection.

Well, I live in North America, and I can't think of any natural disasters that hit my area with any frequency. Earthquakes are unheard of, tornados happen rarely, but they're small, and don't ever touch down, floods happen in the northern part of this province when we're not experiencing drought....
So off the top of my head, the closest things we have to a natural disaster is winter!:P Well, that and summer:) It goes from very cold to very hot here.
I know this isn't what you're asking, but my machine with a performance rating of 4 (Apparently, it's between 1 and 5.9 right now) runs vista beta 2 and MS VS 2005 quite well. I've got an X700 PCI-E with 128mb, 1 gb of PC3200, AMD X2 3800+ and a 250GB Seagate 7200.9 on an nForce 4.
Engineer without a degree is a contradiction. Where I live, it's illegal to call yourself an engineer if you don't belong to the provincial professional engineering association, and you can't join that if you don't have a degree in engineering.
Cod can't type :)
Actually, init (and only init) can lower the secure level. Try typing:
$ kill -s TERM 1
as root some time. It will lower securelevel and drop into single user mode. Securelevel will rise again once in multiuser.

That's because Microsoft Word doesn't use MMX, 3DNow!, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4...
The thing is that most general purpose computers execute the SIMD instructions somewhere between rarely and never.
They won't send the kill command unless they want to retag everything that gets returned.
There is nothing irrgular about it. It's a Greek word.
He did also mention BSD and Linux. Those are perfectly legal to use on any PC.

Which one?

You're clearly not a parent. You don't profit from step 2. Step 2 has serious financial obligations for at least the next 18 years!
Well, this one isn't US only.

Hmm. It appears you're mistaking the Canadian Senate for the UK House of Lords.
It's clearly a conspiracy to keep Intel drivers away from BSD!!! :P
BZZZT!! Canadians use *Canadian* English which happens to be a mix between Britishisms and Americanisms.
It also includes Canadianisms.
You know, I can't believe anybody ever made a 386SX based computer. What's the point? The DX was out, and was much better.
Well, I guess they make computers based on the Celeron and Sempron processors today.

In Canada we have Commissionaires doing the meter maid jobs. It is also not a criminal offence in Canada to park illegally.

A TI is only good if it has a second T.
;)
