Sure, LoTR and U-something-that-had-whores-and-was-cooler (Usurper?) on dialup BBSes were hellafun, but NwN actually integrated graphics and made it all sexy. for the time.

Ever since I spent a month on UO and Everquest (I'm sorry, but if you were addicted to EQ you should be face stabbed, it SUCKED, even with a kick ass high speed connection) years ago I havent been able to really get into these newfangled bullshit ripoff MMORPGs. I'd much rather devote my time to an open, networked sort of world, but Second Life's interface is total crap, so back to CS and biding my time.

I'd think its sad when someone lets their kid(s) get away with saying things like this in public or at Walmart. Its a failure of PARENTING if your kid is saying these words. I have a 5 year old son and he has been exposed to much of the real world language and he knows its grownup speak AND its bad, he will even correct us if we slip up in front of him and seems very aware that those are not words for kids. Those are 'daddy' and 'grandpa' words (especially old school grandpa). Further evidence, my own grandpa was a sailor, so you can imagine the kind of crazy stuff he would/could say around me and my siblings growing up, but we knew, thanks to our PARENTS, that those were not words to be used in public and were adult words.

Really, I learned most of my bad words when I was 5 from 2 specific kids that were in my kindergarten class, I grew up hanging around one of them until I was out of high school, and I tell you, it was definitely a deficit of active parenting that led to it.

You don't understand real world capitalist economics, when GM and Ford switch their engines to use the very cheap and efficient power source, gas prices EXPLODE and only the richest people can afford to have gasoline engines. People will consume when its is provided, oil companies and car companies are made up of educated people who know how to manage production and supplies but it all goes out the window when they learn how to squeeze some more profit from the equation. They are not universities or do-gooders, they are corporations, and exist only for money.

Perhaps the discussion we should be having should be about abolishment of the corporation status. An entity with rights intended for individuals but separates responsibility and culpability from those running it sounds like a scam.

I don't give two shits about who 'wins' in the HD DVD vs BluRay (and on this, strangely enough, I like the Sony tech better overall, but suspect HD DVD will be cheaper in the long run).

I did not waste my hard earned money on any of the over hyped gaming machines. I *MIGHT* get a Wii since I have a 5 year old son, other than that, I'd be hard pressed to buy a limiting console gaming machine for the price of a new low-mid range pc or some decent hardware upgrades on an existing pc. If BluRay does in fact get some real, non-PR traction, I'll consider just going the PS3 WHEN I buy a 42"+ tv to utilize the quality. Until then I'll stick with the PC and an old X-Box.

No, its not ridiculous, its perfectly-goddamn-acceptable that if the bank wants to shift culpability form themselves to end users in terms of fraud and security, which is the purpose of this, they should ABSOLUTELY be required to get a subpoena from a judge to access your personal computer. There is a basic right to privacy, and the onus of security is on the bank, not the end user. If they choose to connect their financial systems to the internet, thats THEIR choice, especially if the access allows more than just read only information of accounts (eg. bank's online ability to transfer funds to other bank customers and outside accounts, automatic bill pay, etc.). I don't think you have a healthy understanding of just how bad this is. They will have the ability to access everything on your computer, it only takes one unscrupulous bank IT employee to start copying/logging/etc personal data.
