matter of factly, that is exactly like AOL buying Qwest and reqruiring an AOL email client. AOL has its own little land of monopolizing. Qwest sold their ISP service to MSN. The USERS of Qwest had no choice in this. Now, after the sale, MSN is FORCING THE USERS to use MS Products to check their mail. Its classic embrace and extend. Open your eyes, jackass. not everyone is a linux zealot who hates microsoft. Some of us just have enough common sense to notice when someone/some company is just an all around jerk. MS has never admitted to doing ANYTHING anti-competitive, they flat out deny it. Do you hear me? They FLAT OUT DENY destroying Netscape. or OS/2. Good Business analysts can look at what happened and tell you straight up that MS crushed them with their unscrupulous business practices.

'promotes others to develop new ideas'? im sorry, but that doesn't flow with me. people will have ideas and be creative whether or not you give them a 'right to be greedy' excuse. thats all it comes down too.

There is no such thing as intellectual property. Every idea and every thing is a derivative of that that came before it, only God's first thought could be intellectual property. (and I use the word God not in the divination-praise-the-chruch-send-them-money way, but in the unknown-reaches way, im not exactly a church goer).

Jon Katz, your assertion that gamers become impatient is not entirely true. Patience is something gaming can teach you. I'm overly patient with everything as a result. From the days of trying to dial up to the local l33t BBS to get the newest update for Doom (1.666 is still the coolest version) and sitting in front of the computer, praying to your modem that it will connect and not get a busy signal, patience is forced upon you, or you will go mad.

Fighting games in their early stages were a lot more quick decision oriented, but now all the Tekken Tag crap requires upmost patience and timing. Trust me, thats how all those Asian kids kick my ass all the time. I've got patience, but the timing is awkward and I'm use to old school fighters where as soon as you press an attack button, they actually attack.

Hardcore gamers are better off for being gamers. Perhaps we are a bit unhealthy with our need to play for hours a day, but not only do we have the sweested hand-eye coordination ;), we can learn stuff. Yeah thats right, stuff. Sure. Thats the ticket. Now its 'educational.' Yay. Ok, back to my Rogue Spear (Covert Ops is crap) and Unreal Tournament. And any truly hardcore gamer knows that Q3Arena SUCKS!
