The biggest problem for KDE4 was when some distro's like Kubuntu installed KDE4.0 by default even though it was far from ready, that wasn't KDE's doing.
The present rc for KDE2.3 is an entirely different experience, a well thought out desktop with novel design that really supports productivity and yet in the old KDE ways highly customisable.
And it's pretty.
When you live in this city (Munich) and state (Bavaria) you are immersed in a many centuries old culture. Munich might not be Rome but a thousand years old structures are what you grow up with, the same is valid for the continuity of the administration.
So who is going to complain about a few years of software migration especially when the goal is greater independence?
Nothing, but there are different way to achieve a profit
.
In the case of Microsoft there are recognised problems with the morality of their business model. It's the client who has (should have!) the liberty to go along with a particular business model and Munich has made it's decision not to follow the Microsoft ways.
Some claim there is no morality in business but especially when public monies are involved you better review that opinion.
This and other instances of how private data is being turned into merchandise make me very happy to live in a country where this sort of information remains the inalienable property of the person.
Surely the US can enforce similar legislation, what is so private as fingerprints should have the strongest possible protection, regardless whether it's kept by government or private institutions.
After some reflection on your post I can only conclude you miss the necessary education or worse, intelligence, to appreciate these steps forwards in science.
So forgetting about a possible lack of intelligence I'd suggest you start reading up about the great things science does for our world.
You seem to be from a different set of Netherlands than where I live...
KPN has over the years acquired many of their important competitors but are still not a monopoly.
It's sooner the cable providers than the ADSL ones that need competition. Just look at the price differences between say Het Net and Xs4all, both KPN
Nor have I even heard a peep from KPN like suggesting preferential treatment for some kinds of data.
I strongly oppose the idea The Netherlands suffers corruption at this level of decision making but some unhealthy 'networking' could have taken place around the time of privatisation.
After all, compared to The UK with it's single party government and only 2 major parties in the legislature we are a real parliamentary democracy, checks and balances are very healthy.
Hmm, we here in The Netherlands are on average the tallest people in the developed world, I am 1.88 m (6'2" for those stuck in the 19th. century) and regularly feel dwarfed by the younger generation.
We are quite happy and comfortable in Asian and European cars, there must be a reason the European offshoots of GM like Opel are doing reasonably well compared to the US mother.
Although Diesel gives off about 12% more CO2 emissions the energy per volume burned is even better.
According to this study Diesel engined vehicles presently have a 24-33% advantage.
Based on recent genetic information carried out at three Japanese universities, the date of the genetic mutation that resulted in blonde hair in Europe has been isolated to about 11,000 years ago during the last ice age. Before then, Europeans mostly had darker hair and eyes, which is predominant in the rest of the world.[16]
I don't understand that companies put people in jobs without even elementary instructions on the tools supplied yet it seems to be the rule rather than the exception...
The perfect example of how MS bloat comes about, at least at par or possibly worse than mails standard in html (and answering before/above the question)...
You're calculation re. video might be a bit off as compression will likely be used but otherwise you might have hit the nail square on the head.
The British government urgently needs this bandwidth to accommodate all their efforts in tracking the general population, otherwise also known as spying.
Hmmm, so the next generation of CCTV camera's will be HD...
I think it's time to invest in a UK storage solutions supplier:)
And why wouldn't there be rivalry between FOSS solutions?
That's not to say there are no issues :)

Now if they'd only get it as fast as KDE3.5...

I run it and it works.
all the way through the end of World War II. Then we got stupid.
No, that was the time you realised the benefits of open markets.
Because of the wealth created by these open markets you grew lazy and that's what caused the stupid bit.
So forgetting about a possible lack of intelligence I'd suggest you start reading up about the great things science does for our world.
Easy, thalf of them don't have such accounts.
And/or already work for the city.
The other half considers it a call for war.
But then, when the same institution makes computer algorithms patentable maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
This is very much comparable to the One Click fiasco, you get a couple of desirable but common applications linked to a single action and Bingo!

When has the US ever decided to follow suit?
Just watch what happens when North Korea throws an Nuclear bomb.
Or someone closes his borders for US goods...
Is it because we all expect and accept Windows to be vulnerable that it is no longer necessary to mention the OS involved?
We are quite happy and comfortable in Asian and European cars, there must be a reason the European offshoots of GM like Opel are doing reasonably well compared to the US mother.
So I have a suggestion :)

You sound like you're living north of the I-10...
Why, you're done eating?
Because from what I see around me 99% of present day documents could've been made (easier) in Office '97.
I don't understand that companies put people in jobs without even elementary instructions on the tools supplied yet it seems to be the rule rather than the exception...
Yeah and there's a nice Notepad clone in Wine :)

Yeah, like HD CCTV on every street corner.

Oh yeah, Sweden is where the ice cream is made by blondes.
