Personally, when reading pdf articles, the difference between 1080p and 4k make a world of difference. The aliasing is almost invisible in 4K. Also, thin diagonal lines in plots are much more clearly defined. Because this difference is so large, I have little doubt that 8k will also make a difference, although maybe not as much as from 2k to 4k. I have not yet had the pleasure of comparing video on 1080p and 4k.

As soon as we have 8k video commonly available, which could be as soon as 2020, if Japan gets to host the Olympic Games, we will run out of storage, out of bandwidth, and there is not even a standard for an optical disc that can hold the data, at the moment. So our period of rest will not be too long.

Indeed, otherwise heat pipes would not be so fashionable, these days. It is simply because they work. And if we have a look at air coolers and their reviews, the cooling capacity is not very strongly related to the surface area. It was even remarked that modern heat sinks place the fins too close together, and that air had difficulty going between them. That heat sinks with the fins wider apart, and as such less total area, were more effective coolers. And it is quite easy to get dust out of a finned cooler. But getting dust out of a copper sponge is different matter altogether.

This factor of 500 is a strange number. The copper fins of my CPU-heatsink also have a quite a large total area. A claim of two orders of magnitude needs a bit more justification than just a mention. Otherwise is just seems like a movie title.

I do not think the internet is the answer to young children. It is used only to shout "yolo" on network sites, post naked selfies and hashtags and whatsapp messages and [pick your deity] knows what. Is this is an advantage to a child? The amount of information bashing on a child's brain is so massive that it can no longer make the distinction between relevant information and nonsense. Parents of children that do not have a computer and/or internet are usually not capable of teaching their child to make this distinction. You may call me old fashioned, but school going children would have a bigger advantage learning their native language properly. In my country, people write job application letters with dozens of language errors, because they literally do not know any better, because that was all they needed to communicate with others over the internet. Next they are surprised and threaten the potential employer when explained that that is not the way to go. The conventional library is the way to go.
