  1. Anecdote from the recent past. on One-a-Day-Compiles: Good Enough For Government Work In 1983 · · Score: 1

Not that long ago, back in the 90's I worked on a project for Macintosh (not called MacOS yet) that had a minimal compile time of 12 minutes on the highest end Mac at the time (a Quadra something or other loaded to the max with RAM) and that's assuming you change one or two source files and not touch headers. Touching a header file forced a full compile and that would be 45 minutes. We ended up scheduling our compiles so that we could all play fooseball or something. Coming back to a failed compile sucked hard.

These people give every other gay man or woman a bad name. Homosexuality makes some people uncomfortable and if there's no really good reason, why persist? There is no good reason what so ever to make it a point to let people know who you like to have sex with on XBox Live. BTW. I'm gay so don't go calling me a homophobe.

Developers now have to support IE5, 6 and 7. There's more work to do. So how does your argument apply? Standards are what the market demands, not what developers do. IE still owns the market and its the de facto standard, like it or not. Just because some academics came up with a "standard" doesn't mean there's a law that says that everyone needs to follow it. They should be called "suggestions".

  22. Not so bad on US Outlaws Online Gambling · · Score: 2, Informative

This doesn't really matter all that much. It means that US banks and credit card companies can't process the transactions. Companies like Firepay are off shore banks that can accept lawful deposits from US banks and then in turn handle gambling related transactions.

The law doesn't impose any penalties to gamblers so there's nothing illegal about taking any winnings by using the offshore banks to funnel those winnings back to a US account.

The problem is it's just harder now for the average player to make a deposit. I think in the long run this will be better for the above average players by keeping the degenerate gamblers out.
