Computers are basically machines, and so follow a very mechanical, physical sort of logic.
Math is about abstractions, and constructing abstractions of abstractions.
There is some overlap, in the way that math can be used to describe almost any process.
There is some overlap, in the way that computers can manipulate symbols to produce results.
In the same way that metallurgy is not necessary for an auto mechanic (though in rare instances it might be helpful) advanced mathematics is not necessary for a working programmer (though in rare instances it might be helpful).
I gave up using it a long time ago since it was such a mess.
Maybe it's better now.
It still lacks most of the stuff & add-ons that FF has which make it such a good web programming/debugging tool.
Most lacking feature in Chrome: multi-row tabs.
(OK, maybe they're also short a spinning platter, too)
But think about it guys -- there is no magic here.
It happened this way: Jobs wanted to save hardware costs on his laptops, so he decided to junk the keyboard and sell the sizzle, or "less is more". (If you don't understand Apple as a hardware manufacturer which regards software as NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering costs) you don't understand Apple's strategy of selling over-priced hardware.)
Other tablets had a rotating screen that locked over the keyboard when you needed to use it that way. Much more useful.
So if you can put 4 cores in a laptop, why not in a keyboard-less laptop?
I just can't resist boasting that I was selling a commercial product, "LIVE!", for the Amiga. A video input board, it was used at the Amiga launch.
Later a Canadian/Seattle company called VeryVivid wrote some very beautiful software for that board using the same principles as deWitt demonstrates. You could have birds fly to your hand, play virtual cymbals and drums, and may other effects.
If anybody can locate video of that, I'd love to see it again
Pro Drupal 7 Development -- (bad review)
on
Foundation Drupal 7

· Score: 1
Sorry to say this, but "Pro Drupal 7 Development" is the worst written technical book I've ever read.
It is very difficult to follow (somewhat like the Drupal code itself) even though I've already spent weeks hacking the internals.
The fact that is has been very poorly (if at all) proof-read makes it even worse: frequently the meaning of sentences is either changed or destroyed through lack of careful review.
All in all, it seems as if it when directly from the writers to print (no editor is mentioned.)
Makes one really appreciate the work O'Rielly Press does.
..this is only good for the leaders: have a bright idea, throw in some junk, pull it out later when it turns out to be a mess.
It's not "like" Chrome, it IS Chrome.
Since black holes occur so early in the evolution of galaxies, I wondering if such a concentration of mass could produce fields were are currently aware of, like the dark energy that holds galaxies together.
It would have been better stated thusly: "'Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gymbol in the wabe."

I always do, and always switch channels.
not this way.
less === less
less != les
,,,it must be time for a new government.
Anybody care to compute the ratio of terrorists to terrorist hunters?
But hey, if you can't find 'em, make 'em.
Must be something wrong with me here.
A tablet is a laptop without a keyboard, with half the case of a laptop, without a hard drive, etc.
It's basically a motherboard and a screen in a case.
A more capable laptop, with all that other hardware, costs $300.
Do the numbers.
[kind of like an SUV for a car mfg: $10k profit in each of those]
Say under budget, folks!
Must be a PS3: you can own a car but you can't own a PS3.
If you can't hack it you don't own it.

Social Security is self-funding.
It does not come out the general budget.
It does come out of your paycheck.
Congress has even been known to raid the Social Security trust fund to support its own budget.
--------------
This radically different from the "Defense" budget, both in purpose and in funding source.
We're already seen this.
In the US, where political speech is mostly protected, this may be an argument for persevering our freedom of address-ing.
In the beginning anybody could set up a radio station, only needing to conform to the standards of the radio receivers.
Then came government regulation: on frequencies, on receiver standards, on power, and even on call letters.

Are there lessons to be learned from Egypt? (Something about not just being a disturbed observer, sitting at your keyboard?)
how cute does apple look now?
iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc are, and always have been, simply sales platforms for Apple where they leach off of others work.
Anybody?
Anybody?
Anybody?

...didn't expect to return, either.
Chicken or Egg, any one?
outside of that, about 10-12 hours/day, 7days/week (if my faithful female companion allows me to)
