    Can't really speak for the whole Lizard....But the newest Galeon has been making me very happy as of late. Version 1.0 does not have to be perfect....Keep up the good work....

    Since we all know Java (c) is going to be "the next big thing...." there just must be a "Java - Platform Independent (c)" solution out there right??? I mean hell, all of the universities are teaching Java right??? (My tongue is firmly in my cheek...)

    I have always prefered Gnome to KDE from a lookability/usability standpoint....But alas -- it is hard for me to say this, but the develpment AND stabilization of KDE is the clear leader nowadays...Between KDE 2.X and Konq....I can't deny it any longer.....I remember back in "the day" when KDE was slow, bloated and browserless...And Gnome 1.0 was a shoo in with the mighty Netscape doing a Gtk+ version of their next browser -- to be known as Mozilla...But somewhere on the way to the fair.....And those damn KDE developers came on like a Kenyon in a long distance race -- making the world class competition look like chumps on a Krispy Kreme run....

    Not sure....But I bet that most distros are holding their breath and protesting against the spread of broadband and cd burners. Widepread availability of those 2 things together would take a big chunk of the customers. I have purchased distros just to show my support....(and then shelfed them shrinkwrap and all)...because I had already downloaded, burned, and installed...However, I find myself doing that less and less nowdays.

    It seems very unlucky for the "Commercial Debian based distros" going belly up....Is it a curse or something????...Or maybe some serious gypsy curse or something....(your VC) is getting thinner, thinner, thinner...

    My apoligies to all non Stephen King fans that did not get that one..

    What consumer audio device does support OGG?? If the only way to endorse OGG is to not get anything -- then sorry. Consumer audio devices that play and record/encode music are pretty much commonplace now days, and it is pretty easy to see what formats are dominating....But then again you could always choose not to watch movies because they don't play in your Beta machine.

    Yea, I have tried just about every solution and the RioVolt is more or less the best alternative yet. ** This is based on the criteria of space, portability, battery life, file formats (mp3,wma,etc..), etc...etc...

    Open Source coders also need to eat. Linux is free -- yet Linus does not look like he has missed very many meals. The internet is a great place to voice ones opinion -- and most journalists value their opinions and ego's enough that they trade the demographics and reach of the internet for the ability to actually make money everytime the "pen hits the paper...."

    But why must the model work like this:

    A. Website starts with little or no funding. Is wildly popular. Attracts a large crowd. Website operates as a hobby for the people that run it.

    B. Company buys website and puts big dollars into site. Pays everyone involved a salary.

    C. Money runs out....website dies.

    Why can't a site go from Grassroots, Sugar Daddy, back to Grassroots?

    I have yet to see PS2, Nintendo, or even the mighty M$oft Xbox -- in the year 2001 (or even 2002 for that matter) compete feature to feature with the Dreamcast.....Pretty sad when your only way to get online gaming with a console is to go with a machine that is (un)officially "dead". BTW -- are you PS2 fanboys online yet???

    There is a pretty favorable review in USAToday that mentions among other things that this crew is a little weary of new items such as "Phase Pistols" and "Transporters"....It gets 3 stars out of 4.
    Can someone tell me why this did not get picked up by a more respectful network?

    I have been following this from day one -- and the one issue that always kicks you in the pants is the fact that the DC has only 16 Megs of usable memory. Thus, you are sitting there in X with an xterm and wishing that you had enough memory to actually do anything else. (I did get it to play Donkey Kong with Mame --- albeit no sound --- but it was cool...)

    Kids make it hard to work from home. If your work speaks for itself (in a possitive manner) then it is a good connection. On the other side of the fence -- in this day and age of "doing more with less"...It is very valuable to have your "best" people at the jobsite where they can lend a helping hand in a team environment. I cannot begin to explain how valuable it is to have everyone located such that they can turn to each other in person and share their skills.

    All you dial uppers stuck in the past can go on back to "your internet" (a good local bbs with a FIDO feed....) And the rest of us "Wide Pipers" will not have to worry about all of these little bugs on our windshields.

    In all honesty -- I think the previous message about mopeds on the freeway was a pretty good summary.

    If I ever got 5 minutes with George Lucas -- I would spend the first minute letting him read this comment and then say -- "George this is how we all feel..." -- But anybody who remembers the Ewoks smashing Stormtroopers in ROTJ had to see this coming....I mean hell even Jar Jar aint so bad when you figure the Ewoks paved the way for him.

    I would be happy to uss .ogg except for the fact that I do not listen to MP3's sitting in front of my computer very often....

    A. I have a Kenwood MP3 player for my car...does it or will it support .ogg? NO
    B. I have a portable MP3 player for walks and work....will it support .ogg? NO
    C. My DVD player hooked to my home stereo will play MP3's....will it support .ogg? NO

    Bottom line....Like it or not....Outside of sitting in front of your computer to listen to music....what good is it??? It has taken a couple of years to get all of these "Consumer Devices" to support MP3.....Do we all think that the consumer device market all of a sudden decide to support Ogg Vorbis in the next generation???.....Hmmmm

    The linux community was really exciting in the years past....New software, big advancments, corporate acceptance on the fringe, break neck development cycles, etc...etc.. Now it seems that everyone has dug foxholes, climbed in --- and now they are throwing grenades. I can't remember the last time I saw something that really made me go -- "Wow, this is neat...." -- now it is just talking about failed business plans, companies going bellly up, stock prices, amd backstabbing....Kindly like some mariages after the honeymoon period is over.
