I'd me more surprised if it were the marines or the navy seals being downsized. The Army is a lot of bulk manpower that just sits around for the most part and maintains control of areas that have already been seized from the enemy via the attacking efforts of the marines. Advancements of technology means drones and stationary automated turrets can do a lot of that defending work I'd imagine. Just gotta have some protected folks around to maintain control and change the batteries every now and then. Probably way more affordable than actual people. The marines and seals on the other hand can't be so easily replaced by a machine.

So I guess we can all give a big thanks to Rodman for sacrificing his time and health to do his part to protect world peace by keeping this overempowered wild-child distracted. I've long since quit drinking, I'm not buying any new technology gadgets or switching connectivity providers of any sort, and pretty much not spending money on anything because of tax season. I don't even care about the halftime show. Its a confirmed waste.

When I look at that hieroglyph shown in the ad, I'm seeing on the bottom row 3rd from the left what appears to be a guy sporting a HUGE beer gut, plus he has a refer-smoking buddy across standing on the opposite side of the table in front of him. Plus I think those folks bottom right are playing music. Compared to today that matches up pretty accurately to typical college party life.

When alcohol consumption by the population in general in any country goes down, the probability of a looming war goes up. When everyone calms down and has a drink, war probability goes down. I have ADD myself, and I take meds to treat it. I can honestly say that I make smarter decisions when on my medications. I focus better, get things done, my social life improves, and I'm just generally better at living. And when I reflect back on days when I was not on my meds, I often just shake my head at myself in embarassment for all the dumb things I did that day. So glad to have a treatment. I think before ADD was clinically diagnosed, people were just called "less intelligent". And who wants to be dumb? Certainly not me.
We probably won't hear a word about these folks in public TV due to well orchestrated govt control, which makes it less obvious to the public. I say: all seven of these should stand together united with the same message and video on their homepages. That'll force their way into public television networks.
I think college students should have to take an ethics course on spotting vaporware. The scenario usually it goes like this: An employer hires you to do a job, and then eventually they want you to work on only the front-end portion of a solution to use for presentation purposes only. They say "we'll make it work later. right now just make it look like its work because we're using it for a presentation to sell this company to a new owner". Then of course later on they say "ok make it work now" and demand unreasonable completion deadlines and want emails by end of day confirming a list of functional features that have been completed and confirmed to work (nevermind relational database design and the testing phase). When the developer says they can't get all that done in that short of an amount of time, next they get a speech that goes something along the lines of: "right now we have chickenshit, and we need to turn this into chicken salad so we can sell it". And somehow the owner has convinced themselves that the developer is totally oblivious to whats going on. They're obviously going to rip off some poor soul who thinks they're buying a near-completed product, and when the buyer realizes they've been duped and take it to court, the previous owner will have a stack of emails from the developer saying "your honor, my programmer lied to me. i was unaware we were this far from completion". Its vaporware, its a scam, its unethical to participate, plus you're willingly setting yourself up as a patsy.
According to the Rolling Stone, they're playing near the heliport of the continent's Carlini Argentine Base on December 8 2013. I gotta think their music is loud enough to split ice-sheets and shake the earth where it generally should remain unshaken for the sake of avoiding the trigger of a natural disaster.

I agree with the frontal lobe thing. I remember being bullied in Junior High. Some of my worst years in life were spent there. I don't like going back there because it brings back bad memories. I feel bad for kids going through the same thing because I'm sure technology has made the experience much worse today than it was back in my day. The truth is that kids have their own little privately-run societies in school (on a social plane) that the adults are quite powerless to have any real control over. And by granting them access to the internet, they wield a weapon that can be used to cause great harm to one another on that plane. Perhaps the internet should be regulated like Alcohol and Tobacco, where access is permitted only once a certain age of maturity has been reached. Not that I condone smoking or claim that setting an age limit has prevented drunk driving, but think of where we would be today had we legalized those kinds of things for minors. We've let them use the internet, and this "bullying" epidemic is what it has led up to. Perhaps change is in order and this is one of those lessons that should go in the history textbooks.
Use long looong looooooooong stored procedures (20,000+ lines long) with lots of spaghetti SQL code and very little documentation. And never use identities and primary keys; instead just get the max ID number on the fly and use source code to get the next integer-up for the next record insertion to a given table. Make sure the table and field names have almost no relevance to the data they hold. use views liberally, and query one view on top of another view on top of another view on top of another view. If possible try and work something out to where there simply isn't any relational design to the database at all, and instead just use redundancy everywhere. Or, if you really want to be nasty, you could go the opposite route and figure out some kind of a mindbending rubix-cube-like puzzle where there is only one table with only 3 fields in the entire database, and nearly all table data of any sort is stored in one field in that table, and just rely on a myriad of SQL joins to emulate the behavior of relational database design.

Well, what I meant was DON'T do this in GTA, but definitely in Call of Duty and other games used to train soldiers. No reason to give them a means by which they'd get to practice committing war crimes. In fact, now that I think of it, since its an online game, why not track how many real soldiers playing the game are committing more war crimes while playing the game? That might serve as an indicator for being more predisposed to going berserk.
Getcha a really nice GREP tool of some sort where you can search through source code easily and do replacements when necessary. I use mind all the time. Comes in quite handy when you're working on code written by other developers.
i think people probably already have a good idea about what they actually think about the other people that they email back and forth with. a google app is just going to tell people things that they already know about themselves.

It would ruin Grand Theft Auto, but for games that we're using to train soldiers, I'd definitely support this.
