Government Corruption? Do you know how hard it is to clean up contamination? If they go by anything close to navy standards, they have to get everything down to essentially background. And zero detectable alpha decays. This essentially means they have to comb through the entire plant inch by inch. Also, there is expected contamination meaning they have to take certain precautions such as wearing anti-contamination suits and such. 40 years to clean out an entire factory? I can believe it.
The problem I see is the exponential nature of technological advancement. 200 years ago, a 20 year patent was fine because your patent won't be required for much innovation in that time. Now, lets say I patent the first computer core for a quantum computer. For 20 years, I have essentially stalled innovation in this country unless people pay me a lot more money than what they would normally have to.
Its about equality of pain, not equality of money spent. Me spending 10% of my income on taxes is much more painful than a rich person spending 10%. An example, someone who makes 20k a year would pay 10% in your example, that $2000 means the difference between being able to afford to fix his car if it brakes down.
But then again, 10% is laughable for a flat tax, it would probably be closer to 20% if not higher.
Bad analogy is bad.
First off, friends wouldn't do that, otherwise you have some awful friends.
Second, different rules apply to society as a whole and a circle of friends. Some friends have physical fights as a way to pass time, do that with a complete stranger and good luck to ya.
Why no? It's called redistribution of wealth and its a good thing. Tax the rich people at higher rates and give the money to the poor people. Honestly, it would be better if they just paid their workers more but since they aren't the government should step in.
So the correct answer is for the government to give everyone that makes less than a certain amount money so that they are all at that amount. Better than a flat tax, no American who works will make less than $25k!
If the new fish were either unable or unwilling to breed with the fish without the adaptation then it would be evolution in progress, but the article fails to mention.
If you did not attempt to profit off of your sharing or induce harm upon others, they should charge you the cost of the song and like a $100 dollar fee for having to catch you in the act. For people who actually try and profit from infringing, I would say probably 10x the amount lost in profits. But this would mean I want a concession from the copyright holders that they will only go after people for infringing upon something that they have in good faith to actually be using said copyright.
So you are saying that if something is a privilege they can do whatever they want to you? How about organ transplant, the doctors give you a new lung but to get it you have to donate a kidney, is that acceptable to you?
I fully understand how laws are made, I am saying that government policy should still be firmly in the hands of the Democrats and the Republicans at least have a say now in how that gets implemented. If the Democrats want to talk about reforming education, the Republicans should have to go along with it.
Two term limits only further strengthens the bureaucracy and lobbyists.
Filibuster, I would support lowering cloture to maybe 55 votes. But I agree, the Democrats should have forced the Republicans to stand there.
Proportional Representation, as a citizen of California, I support this 100%.
The Health Care Reform without a single payer system is 100% a Republican Idea, the Democrats used a Republican Idea for the basis for their HCR, how is that not compromising? Remember, it was the Democrats who were in power with a super majority, they didn't have to give the Republicans a bone and yet they tried.
The big bang was an explosion of space in addition to everything else so unless they created a micro-universe in there, I don't think its comparable.
I think you underestimate how hard it is to get rid of...53 million gallons of anything.

Its cause in paradise countries, why bother working? In not so good countries, you want to work to get out of the cold.

People should contribute what they are able, when they are able, some people just can't contribute right now and I am fine with that.
Fact Check has it so that middle income people have their tax burden increased and people making more than 200k have it lowered.
The only real good beer is Moose Drool. ;-)

It's like bacteria but on a multicellular level.
As in, I want to see Universal Fail so I am going to give everyone free copies of their dvds so they won't buy them.

Actually, there is a cut off where it goes from petty theft to grand larceny.
Probably something about nudity...
Linear effect? Does that mean the more juice the smarter I get? /goes and gets lightning rod.

That is easy enough, you take any bill from the house and gut the hell out of it and make it into what you want. They do it all the time.

Hey now, the Democrats tried to compromise with Republicans on Health Care Reform and the Republicans would have none of it.
