  1. Not the first USB2 tv tuner on Uncompressed TV Video Over USB 2.0 from ATI · · Score: 2, Informative

I've been the (mostly) happy user of a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe. It is an USB2 external tv tuner that supports mpeg compression in hardware at bitrates up to 15MB/s

DVD's is about 6MB/s so i think that 15 should be enough for most ....

The only problem with compression and decompression is the timelag when changin channels

I have been using zyxel zywalls since the now discontinued zywall10 was the news. Right now I run a network with about 15 zywalls spread arround the globe. Most in Denmark and the farest away is in Japan.

The reason for hardware firewall's and vpn access was simple that we at that time still used NT 4.0 and many was dualbooting different OS's.

We choose the zyxel zywall's since we have been a long time user of zyxel modems, isdn adapters and routers.

I as all you others has used a lot of floppy discs in its time. I probably still have a 5,25" lying around somewhere. When i went to university that was the std. medium so even trough the 3,5" single side disc was standard i still used the a "real floppy disc" for most things.

By '95 the 3,5" 1,44 disk was my std. medium but it did'nt hold enough files, so by '96 i bought my first syquest ez135 drive. 135MB on one disc was a big improvement but since nobody else used that i soon bought another external one for the parallel port.

That have served me well for year bringing work (etc) back and forth, but since the capacity is a bit limited i've also used removable harddiscs But the don't like the life in a bag on the back of a motorcycle...

I've also had a short experince with the LS-120 super floppy drive, but since i already had the syquest i dropped it again.

But now with the falling prices of flash ram my primary mean of moving files are a small 32mb usb flash drive. And when the files get to big i use a network connection or a CD-r/w enstead. I have 128MB in my digital camera and think about getting an adapter so I can use the compact flash card in the computer as well

BTW my notebook does not have a floppy drive but my main pc still do.

    >Great way to get rid of users like us whom depend on their fantastic POP cum web mail service .

Exactly my thoughts. I've been using their web based groups/clubs (and some of the mailing lists the have bought) for years. The services have their pros and cons but works okay, for a small group with the same interests. Often for topics to narrow for usenet. I still prefer usenet over web based solutions, but the posibility of getting the discussions as digests and only use the web for posting is ok with me. I still pay for internet acess by the minute, so i prefer to do as much as possible offline.

So until know I've been able to use yahoo mail offline for reading and only had to go online for access to shared files and posting new messages.

My favorite group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aprilialeonardo/ At the moment they still allow me to get the digests send to any email address. My guess is that we soone will see the next restriction:"All messages from the group can only be sent to an yahoo mail account...."

No - They plan to operate the 30 meter at 100% but have started with only 20% usage (yesteday). They expect that all the power for the ~150000 citizen on Amager will go trough this kabel if all go well...

I've heard the bashing of sony and other consumer-hifi producers. I've even read many negative reviews. But the sound quality is good enough for me, I like much of their designs and I can afford it :-)

I've just bought a set of a Sony Str-db 940 (av-reciver) and Pascal sa-ve705 (5 sat and active sub.) and are so far satisfied. Sure i can get a cheaper setup that may sound better (i.e. better detail in stereo mode) but there is also the WAF.
    (Wife Acceptence Factor)

I don't have much experience with Bose, but maybe the sony is also worth a look ?

We live in a kind of small apartment and floor space is precious, so the new system should be wall mounted. It should look good and not be black (The WAF). So our tradeoff was the above setup.

But if you want highend at a low price and can build the cabinets yourself, have a look at http://www.ing.dk/tema/selvbyg/ (Its in Danish but the design drawings are at http://www.ing.dk/tema/selvbyg/konstruktion.html )

The law that made it possible to form the society has nothning to do with todays pirate problems. The society itself was started in 1927.

Over the years they have gotten permissions to tax new media when the got populare. I can still remenber when they started to tax VHS tapes and we began buying them in the neighbouring countries like Germany. (Along with beer, wine and other eletonic gadgets ...)
