  1. Well... on A Look at the Newly Released Mozilla Firefox 0.9 · · Score: 3, Insightful

As a recently converted and quite happy Firefox user, First off, yay!

However, I just don't see IE going anywhere, ever. Not while Windows is on 90+% of mainstream desktops. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but just because a product is better, does not mean it will be successful.

I am all for Mozilla/Firefox, but I just can't see it ever landing on my fathers Dell, or my aunt's HP.

unless, of course, I put it there, but they call me enough already with stupid user questions... I ain't giving them a new piece of software.

I've been using SpamBayes for about 4 months now, plugged into my outlook (Don't ask) with a very high degree of success... It seems to me that if email is to remain a free(as in beer) and open part of internet infrastructure, and in fact our lives, that in-box solutions are the only way to go.

The many problems with challenge solutions and the like meen any hope of seamless introduction and integration into existing business processes is not likely, and seem to keep pointing us back to the inbox for our filtering. Aside from "e-stamps" (yuck) I just don't see a reliable alternative anywhere in the near future.

Then again, I could be full of crap.

No offense... but this is getting old.

Yes, Mozilla is better than IE in alot of cases... but don't forget, the average user still uses the internet for email, online banking, and news sites.

And guess where you are more than likely to run into an "I.E. reccomended" site? Online banking.

Yes, "developers should...", but Developers should do a lot of stuff that they never will. Reality is, Mozilla is a far way from replacing I.E.
