While I would agree with 90% of what you say, do you not think that Javascript has some legitimate use? Especially when building web-based applications?
I mean really, Javascript can allow for a TON of things that are VERY useful to both developers, AND end-users. (Form validation, etc.)
Saying
" My intent in doing this is specifically to, as you say, "slow down its adoption and dampen the usefulness of javascript webpages."
is not really doing anyone any good.
Now, saying
" Fuck me up with your shitty Javascript and I will block your asshat domain at my proxy and do all I can to ensure you never have children"
If you download 5-10GB/month, you will be well under their radar. Now, hit 50-60-100GB/month and you will get warned, warned again, then shut down (At least temporarily)
Internet infrastructure in Canada is actually pretty damn good, and readily available. Hell... I pay 29.00/month (Canadian) and can get 700+ KB/sec (NOT Kb) down. Sure, my upstream is lucky to pass 70 KB, but that still ain't too bad.
I read alot of folks talking about 150-300KB/sec Down... and I can't help but wonder... I have Cable from Shaw in Calgary, and I often get 650KB(byte, not bit)/sec downloads... You poor bastards with ~150K down... how do you live with it???
Since when are Mozilla and Netscape MOST browsers?? Last time I checked I.E. was like 90%+ of the market.
Anyhow, there MUST be some kind of IE exploit to get around those anoying security dialogues... But then, that might require using ASP or VBscript... poop.
We are currently doing a doc filter for data mining at my company, and being able to use a generic XML parser would be fantastic. Currently, we are dealing with.doc,.pdf,.html, etc. etc. what a pain in the arse!
You forgot the Jackboots.
Everyone knows the RIAA Stormtroopers wear Jackboots!

Now, saying
Is a far more productive statement.
Especially as long as DreamWeaver is so vastly supirior to FrontPage.
Flash ain't (unfortunatly) goin' anywhere.
{Obligatory Anti-Microsoft Statement}
Probably Not.
Shaw does cap, but it is not a hard one.

Netcraf September 2003 survey says otherwise...
Man, that is the most beutiful thing I have ever heard. You are hired.
Gotta be lack of informed mainstream media coverage.
If I hear "No one ever got fired for buying Microsoft" one more time, I am gonna snap.
and twice the weight.
I think small form factor is the point here.
Here it is
Farking preview... I know.
Muppets Rock!
Ahh, that clears it up.
Thanks.
Isn't the point that you have to distribute the source WITH the product? (Or at least offer it)
Hmmm... where you at? Toronto?
The speed here in Calgary has always been decent, but it USED to be more like 1.2-1.6MB Downstream... Back in the day...

That being said, the up is like 60-70KB/sec
That's like saying the only diference between Pot and crack cocain is how fucked up it gets you.
Addiction to gaming AND telivision are real. You really belive that a person can not become addicted to T.V.? C'mon... a stimulus is a stimulus.
That being said, I bet it is a lot easier to go cold turkey with the T.V. than the smack.
But, I digress...
Or maybe they were using said HD.
I was under the impression that iTunes was Client/Server, not P2P... How does it possibly relate to Napster/Kazaa/Gnutella, etc.
They are more akin to Amazon.com no?
Wow... Talk about your "Worms: Armageddon"...
