  1. bad idea.. on Safari Killing Opera for Mac OS X? · · Score: 1

I can't imagine Opera actually doing this, they barely scrap by as it is. People have to go out of their way to download and then pay for Opera and they don't really get any extra features that can't be had from any of the browsers that people can get for free. I hope Apple tells them to fuck off.

This point is exactly why none of your other points make sense. The cards don't get hot doing 2d processing, they only get hot while gaming. And if you are swapping out customers $400 cards for cheap $100 ati ones to reduce bluescreens, you are being extremely unethical since heat isn't an issue if they aren't playing a lot of 3d games, and if they are the cheap cards you put in wont get the job done.

Most divx movies aren't good quality. As cool as it would be to have a divx player, I prefer vcd since it generally looks better. Overall picture quality with a vcd might be comparible to vhs instead of dvd, but divx movies tend to have horrible artifacting which makes them annoying to watch. The nature of divx compression makes it so that artifacting is a way of life, and that is just unacceptible for me.

I doubt thats the case, arent the newer sony crts built using a better technology than trinitron anyway? Besides anyone selling a trinitron monitor pays to use the name because of the quality recognition associated with it.

I see this more as a move for Sony to set the new standard in monitors and its definately welcome in a time when the average cost of lcds is rising slightly resulting in some companies (ie Apple) to raise prices and stop selling some sizes of lcds.

Did you read the article before coming up with this little gem?

The nature vs nurture debate never came up in the article, the differences referred to have to do with the cats both being calicos, but the clone being colored dramatically differently from the original.

The nature vs nurture debate was won long ago, and its constantly being won in the minds of intelligent people all the time when they realize that neither nature nor nurture is predominately responsible for "who we are" but that a combination of both is required.

I'll be able about cross-platform GUI toolkits when they make one that looks as good in windows as mfc does. Its easy enough to make a toolkit thats easier to use and understand than mfc, but its awful hard to make one that produces an end result that looks and feels like a native windows app. Linux users are used to apps that don't behave in predictable manners, or don't look the same (mozilla is awful popular among linux users for instance), but windows users are less accepting of programs that look and behave 'wrong'.
