I think you're misinterpreting it. I think bandwidth was used to refer not to page views * ad dollars (profit!), but to GB/month * numerous charitable gamers (loss!). Considering there's no advertising on the Child's Play part of their site, I think the intent was to offload some of the hosting cost onto Slashdot. Whether that'll have the desired effect (i.e. actually keep people from going to the site for these comics) I sincerely doubt.
I wonder how good of a heat-sink the near-vacuum of outer space really is. Since it's a vacuum, I would assume heat loss on the cold side would have to be performed entirely by radiation, as opposed to convection or conductance.
(ignoring the real reasons this isn't done, namely the launch costs and energy transfer issues)
I played the demo, and it's good, but you have to realize it differs in a number of significant ways from the final product. Read the following FAQ. It's written by the developers and it explains why things in the demo don't work as well because they had to artificially cause certain events to happen.
"The Rock is one of the most charismatic actors on Earth and Spy-Hunter will greatly benefit from his very human presence at the core of this mammoth adventure."
The CG scorpion was more human than him in The Mummy 2.
Having read all you mentioned except this latest one, I would recommend Illegal Alien as my favorite. It's one of the best legal thrillers I've read in or out of Sci-Fi and Sawyer demonstrates better knowledge of the American legal system than a Canadian should be allowed to possess:).
The quick synopsis is that aliens crash land on earth and while we attempt to help them repair their ship, a murder is committed and one of the aliens is the prime suspect. Most of the book focuses on the trial.
Don't forget the Kinetic Harpoons. I just saw a story recently where the US Army was considering using space-deployed munitions without explosives because the sheer kinetic energy at impact would be equivalent to an atomic bomb.
My friends and I used to call this "Doom neck" and mock each other for doing it. For the record however, System Shock I supported leaning long before Thief.

What are the odds?!?!?
I almost choked when I read this quote:
