Bah, I like Tactics Ogre over FF Tactics. Where else do your characters say, "Are those my intestines hanging out of my body?!" when they get killed?
I would disagree with you about the Final Fantasy series, except I haven't liked any of the Playstation FFs, and FF8 is really bad with the annoying Junction system. Seems like you spend more time Drawing than fighting!
Anyway, Suikoden destroys all the FFs since 6. I'll have to check out Suikoden 2 some time, but managing your own village sounds cool. Hopefully you can still combine magic with 2 party members...
P.S. Still waiting for Dragon Quest 7 here... WTF is the holdup?!?!?!
That would make buying a Dreamcast worth it. Strangely, the first time I played it, i got the "Class A license", but ever time since, I've only been able to get Class C!
Sega has another game called Emergency Call Ambulance or something similar where you have to drive patients to the hospital before they die. They start out with minor injuries, but every time you hit something, they get worse and your time gets shorter. Hit too many, and... "I don't want to die!" Another great game, but I've only seen it in MayFair Mall, Wisconsin, USA, unfortunately:-( I hope Sega brings that game home as well.
On second thought, maybe Sega should just stick to making arcade racers with moving cockpits...
now I KNOW Slashdot has gone completely off the trolley. (aka insane if you're too American for your own good)
The Slashdot I knew back when only the elite could moderate would NEVER have posted something like this. Since when did Slashdot start reporting on Capcom games???!!!
Yes, this is a rant designed to lose me karma so I can moderate again!
P.S. It sux if it isn't Open Source and it doesn't come out on Linux!
Another typical piece from Johnny. Someone must have forgotten to take out -DVERBOSE and -DPOMPOUS when he was "compiled"...
However, I do feel compelled to post this time, because there is one thing in this article that I agree with, that the Christian Right is neither.
They try to
force
people to think their way, and I believe that is a violation of Great Commandment No.2: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Christ was about forgiveness, not comdemnation. Sure, they can memorize the entire Bible, but I wonder if they realize what it truly means.
One more thing: Sure, religion can stand poking from Johnny, because no one cares what he says;-)
Then again, what do I know? I'm a cradle Roman Catholic, apparently the lowest form of religious scum around these parts, ranking just below Satanism judging from the comments of certain others on Slashdot...
Surprisingly, that's the one party that the Slashdot conspiracy theorists haven't blamed yet.
Until now.
Today's attack on a French Macintosh reseller makes it slightly more plausible, but I think the government theory makes more sense, and Microsoft's PR department is just seizing the opportunity to claim that Linux and Solaris are insecure and Windows is The Answer(TM)!
Of course, the article flat-out lies when it says this can't happen with Windows. It's at least as easy to find a compromisable user acount on Windows as it is under Unix -- and that's all it takes if I remember correctly. More accurately, it takes 50 and a suitable program stuffed in the Startup menu;-)
Not to mention that most software will only use the processing resources of 1 processor at a time, so in the end you'll just be able to run 16 programs at near-full 50 MHz speed rather than 1 at 800 MHz.
Christian: Will you release your games for other Linux versions than Intel, like PowerPC or Sparc?
Personally I would like to target more processors. However it won't be a simple recompile.
We will release our games for Intel x86 based processor first. Maybe once JA2 is finished, we will look at the possibilities of making a PowerPC and maybe an Alpha version. The solution would be to have one programmer dedicated to porting games to different processor architectures since we already have enough work.
Excellent, but for some odd reason having to do wth the number of people who have an Alpha for a PC I don't see that last bit happening...
Every newspaper has its editorial section. Why not Slashdot?
Although, I will also agree that
1. Most newspapers run editorials from more than one person while Slashdot's editorials only come from Johnny Katz.
2. Most newspapers have a limit (500 words?) on guest editorials, while Slashdot lets Johnny ramble on+on+on...
Anyway, I don't filter him, but usually just ignore him because most of the time I don't care.
P.S. Usually, when I read the opinion pages of the paper, I look for the "Letters to the Editor" and especially the editorial cartoons. Slashdot could use the latter, but in a geek-oriented way.
It only works in 15/24 bit true color modes. I am morally opposed to color lookup tables for desktop environments. It uses the resolution and color depth you already are running in OS/X (8 bit will be reset to 16 bit color).
I agree, but...
Someone better alert the XFractint team, or else there will be one broken application on Mac OS/X!
The same goes for any other apps which will expect the PseudoColor visual (I think). Has anyone alerted Mr. Carmack to this?

WARNING!
Just because something is illegal does not make it immoral. Nor is the reverse true.
We would like them to be equivalent, but differences of opinion over morality will prevent that.
YES! I LOVE Crazy Taxi!
:-( I hope Sega brings that game home as well.

Windows is more reliable than Solaris...

IF you try using the S3 Virge accelerated GLX driver under it!
Then again, at this point I believe that goes for Linux as well.
Running Win2K vs. Solaris vs. Linux without any experimental features... don't ask me, I haven't used Win2K.
Eat more fiber.
(Ask a stupid question...)
Just search Freshmeat for TerminatorX. Same type of thing.

It's had that since Windows 95 at least.

MIDS shows that between 8 and 10 PM, something was going on with the Internet to cause reachability to drop like a rock.
Interestingly, it looked like the Internet was doing slightly better than average during the Yahoo attack.
Could some backbone actually have been attacked?
Reason?

Bah, that should read:
"... don't care about the topic he's ranting on."
Preview? We don't need no steenking preview!

OH SHUT UP ALREADY!
You don't like it, leave. You know what he/she meant.
You own nothing.
In fact, you own less than nothing.
Wake me when GLHexen and/or Hexen II come out.
Why is this marked "troll"? It's getting to be the truth these days!
Slashdot does indeed suck!
It works, doesn't it???!!!
It does in fact read Office 97 Word and PowerPoint documents at least. However, some stuff seems to be misaligned sometimes when it does Powerpoint.
