  1. for those too lazy on IE9 May Not Be Enough To Save IE · · Score: 2, Informative

For those too lazy to search you can check out the w3c browser statistics here and you'll notice that the stats are:
    IE: 31.1%
    Firefox: 45.1%
    Chrome: 17.3%
    Safari: 3.7%
    Opera: 2.2%

Those are the estimates for September and I'm assuming that's from all of the doctype fetching. Though, I predict that Firefox will lose numbers to Chrome soon because FF isn't what it used to be, rather Chrome is what FF used to be to IE back in the day IMO.

  2. lack of privacy was stated on Users Sue Google, Facebook, Zynga Over Privacy · · Score: 1

The lack of your privacy had always been stated by Facebook, Google, and other companies as far as I know (with the exception of google collecting open-wifi connections). I'm a stickler for privacy but realistically I don't see a reason why anyone has the right to sue a service about privacy when it was stated in their TOA and Privacy Policy to begin with, unless there are certain privacy things that weren't mentioned in it which can be understandable. However, as mentioned many times before, this looks like a ploy to get rich quick for lawyers and I'll bet you anything the coming judge is in on it.

I disabled internet access on two phones by calling them a few years back and any fees associated to accidentally connecting to the internet had been waived. Usually companies will wave fees especially when you're not on contract with them and you give them the "I'm going to go to..." routine. However I think this article talks about pay-as-you-go phones instead but WGAS :P

I concur, my upload is between 200-480kb/s and my download is roughly 500kb/s-2.5mb/s depending on the server and I'm using comcast. As far as reputation goes, you are either in a good neighborhood or a bad one but when you're in a good neighborhood comcast is very, very reliable and insanely fast for american standards.

Though, as a side note I'd like to just say that it upsets me when providers advertise like 20mb/s down but have terrible upload speed, which in the end makes web browsing slow and painful.

You can get 500gb for $40 with decent specs on it which is like 8cents per gig. Unless I'm using it in a production environment I don't really care so much about the speed difference between your typical SATA hard drive and all of these new solid state things. I think speed will really matter once the price has lowered enough to about 15cents per gig and we go through a year of hard drive space not really budging in default pc's/laptops. Even then, the average consumer probably won't ever use more than 2tb legally until of course 4k resolution monitors come out and the size of games and other media will be vastly bigger, as they normally do.

In all honesty, I am doubting the validity of this because as we all know, such a cause and effect with the given circumstances is not possible around the chan. It requires filth, so much so that not even a mountain of dial-soap could be of any help. That's why I am dismissing this article by calling it fluff in attempt to get more sales.

  21. High taxes and mostly corollas on Why Silicon Valley Won't Be the Green Car Detroit · · Score: 0

A lot of businesses here are leaving the state because the government keeps increasing taxes. You can't make jobs by increasing taxes, and you can't keep businesses if you do the same. Plus if you drive around here you'll mostly see Corollas driven around because when you move from another country you want a car that is affordable and can be run into the ground until the axles come off. It's not a stereotype that indians all drive corollas it's just common sense that immigrants would buy something that will keep them steady while they are here permanently or temporarily. Would you want to spend $20-$50k for an electric car that had to have its batteries replaced at least once or twice in its lifetime? What about the maintenance for it? Not all mechanics are certified or want to be certified to work with high-voltage vehicles so you have to bring it back in to the dealership to get anything repaired and it aint cheap. Logically, in this location, it's just not possible to get the ball rolling with electric cars. As liberal as this place is, there's too few who can and will pay for electric cars, even if they guaranteed two hours on a charge.
