I have about 60 fujitsu drives at work. One failed a couple weeks ago. However my friend with same job at another location has sent back around 20 drives if not more, in the last few years. While hearing from yet another friend who worked for the state that he had fujitsus failing all over.
Hotels often have such a service and system installed to some degree. you Call say you want to watch a movie and you can... So there are systems that will at least partialy take care of your question. but as usual the devil is in the details such as cost of system, cost of licencing, etc...
Friends and I would pass notes in grade school. No one was online and and few had computers at home. and we used U and R for in communications. we were just never stupid enough to use them in a paper or homework WE KNEW BETTER! I dont think that its 2nd nature to them should be an excuse. There are many fluent bi-lingual students you dont see them slipping words from there 2nd or 1st language in the middle of a sentance or paragraph do you? I think its just lazyness and seeing what they can get away with...
the worst that I have done is tried to put semi colons at the end of lines on papers i was writing... I caught that though...
setup an AP in your car guess you could use AD-HOC. you and your friend with WIFI cards (maybe a few extras too) and game on... perhaps hack a batterie powered AP. Many small hubs only take 5-9 volts DC.
i thought maxtor had been offering 160GB drives for a while... i thought they already had 80gig platters for some time now... and WD has 100Gig platters for a a few months... am i wrong?
They do have limited life spans. but how many reads and writes is that? and how many days/weeks etc... would that be in a pc? perhaps for low usage machines? maybe something more along these lines when IBM finishes that magnetic ram...
Its rare that i use a floppy. Its usualy a last resort boot option when working on an older computer that wouldnt handle windows 2000 so i use one to get the cd-rom drivers to load then im pretty much done with it.
and now and then instructors come into my work with floppys for students to take class files home.
I have a 200gig linux fileserver that has never had a floppy hooked up. My desktops floppy is used once maybe twice a year. My laptop well i took the foppy off and put the weight saver in its place.
unstable? never had it crash on me and i do most of my web develop ment with it. if im not telneted into my box from a remote site working on it.. ive never had a problem with Gvim on windows 2k. perhaps its the OS. or need a newer version of Gvim.
did they including this in that study about video games lowering brain activity? The game drove me nuts but i would go in to a semi-trance state when plaing it... my mom and sister could get to level 14ish on the NES.. i think they are both brain dead.
its been out for like a month now. i have a 14.1 inch screen and dvd/cd-rw and love it. but the sound on the sonys just sucks. my hp had better sound...
how long will these kids last with this? what about getting beatup and mugged for the system. id think about it. a 15in flat screen a few pounds of power and a GC all for minimal effort.
how long can these kids hold this much gear and weight safely is another concern of mine.
brain activity is overrated anyways. seriously the guy who thinks the smarter lazyer way prolly doesnt think nearly as hard as the guy who comes up with complicated solution to the same question.
as long as there is some activity and kids are not on life support from playing games who cares.

maybe the hackers are looking for a challenge? tring to be diffrenet or just bored of goin after IIS and 2k/NT4 boxes...
maybe its cause the good stuff to hack is on linux boxes.
who cares as long as the community can keep with patches and holes patched. which the linux world seems to be much better at than the MS world.
