    checkout freshmeat I am faily certain I have seen projects meant to sync a palm with BeOS and AmigaOS... I may be mistaken though. You also may want to try palmgear as they have a huge repository of palm software.

    lucky. I am still waiting for my 3 free MiniDiscs from like 4 years ago. It was sent in well within time too. I've lost all respect for rebates and never count on them anymore.

    id rather have an app that ran on my plam while its in the cradle with popular apps and other info so i can reach over tap IE, or my e-mail client on my palm screen and have it launch it on my system. or have it display the photoshop tools and tap to select them.

    I recall hearing something simmilar about 10 years ago. NetworkApliances. Little java type terminals that accessed everything from programs to documents via centeralized network server. Thin Clients. But it never happened. Its starting to catch on but it was supposed to be the way. alas its not. and i doubt it will be for a very logn time.

    My girl friends dad is the Sultan of Software.

    I my self am a Microcomputer support Tech. I do sys administratation, take care of the network and server, etc. and various bitch work cause they don't like me sitting around waiting for something to break allday.

    maybe. but not for a couple of versions yet. I sometimes use OWA but it lacks many features and usablility is a little off. So maybe in a version or 2.

    The RipGO may have an internal ide interface that gets converted for use with USB. if so just customize the hell out of it, removing any unwanted buttons that would allow features like playing mp3s and maybe a specialized enclosure of some kind.

    There are tools that allow you to mount ISO, BIN, and alike for windows. Daemon Tools i belive. But take and image of all your CDs and then mount the images up as needed rather than hunting for CDs.

    I always thought the cause of problems was supid users doing stupid things.

    If the board is breaking harddrives. I say get a PCI IDE controller and stop using the onboard IDE controller.

    I'm a serious user. Games, Coding, slashdot, graphics, photoshop, etc... 60hz doesnt seem to bother me at all. Sure now and then i get tired of staring at a screen but thats usualy just cause im tired in the 1st place and no screens are really good to look at by that point.

    GSM 900MHz is in eurpoe and something else too. State side its GSM 1900MHz. 900Mhz is also the base to many cordless phones state side.

    I'm the generic ip over radio seems to be the best idea so far. or maybe the interns.

    Depeneds on the group. Is this group being everyone? or a select few? I use moveable type it can use a berkley dbfile or MySQL you can have it run mulitble blogs all with mulitple users with diffrent levels power. Easy to administrate can be slightly tricky to install.

    i think we need a better UI as well as GUI. What abuout something that can read your jestures in air. Pair this with a multi-headed system and good apps (with extensive drag and drop support) you could have a winner.

    I personaly get tired of having to use a mouse for everything. Id like to just move my hand, or eyes around etc.

    to change the GUI tooo much more we may need to change how we interact with it all together.

    The GUI didnt take off until the advent of the mouse. Maybe another input device that compliemtns the mouse and keyboard... or replaces the mouse...

    I love linux. I run windows 2k as my primary desktop OS. I once ran linux for a while as my primary os.

    Linux has improved leaps and bounds since i did that. But it takes too long to boot compared to a 2k or XP box.

    Windows graphics speed and support etc are far better than linux.

    Games... many of the games i like on windows are also for linux but I don't want deal with setting linux up with my graphics card for Quake3 engin based games. In windows it just works and is a few clicks away.

    I don't like windows but it works. It has a few features and many programs linux doesnt. But the same can be said for linux but I dont depend on any of those at this point so it doesnt really matter.

    I do have 3 linux boxen around incase i do need them for something.

    fact of the matter is im too lazy to use and think trough using linux on a daily bases.

    try channel bonding. add a 2nd NIC to each computer and another switch. This can double your bandwidth simply and rather cheaply.

    Timex has a watch that has flash, it tells time, it plays mp3s. But its also go room for a AAA battery . So its kinda large.

    you already got a hw firewall. and want to police the the network activities of linux?

    Redhat has builtin firewalling to choose what can get accessed from out side. And a few other tools that you can download as well. Lets not forget config files that we can modify so they only listen to specif interfaces (127.0.0.1) etc...

    I know being secuurity minded isn't a bad thing but this seems over the top...
