To add to your point, the procurement process is such that it takes almost two years to draft an RFP, get it approved, set it out for the six months, evaluate the bids, submit to board approval, have the board approve it (a month later) and then send if off only to have none of the original components from the original RFP be unavailable, draw up a substitution list, have that go through a quick (two month) review process and finally start the project.

Yes, it can take two years from Project go-ahead to when you can actually start the project. Government efficiency at its finest.

This isn't science, it is religion. Pure Religion. They use scientific sounding terms and make bold predictions that have failed repeatedly, only to have the next round of prophets waiting in the wings with a better interpretation of their holy book!

Sorry, but the current President has already driven America into the dumpsters. Remember when he said that 9 Trillion dollars was "unpatriotic"? I do. But perhaps he wasn't lying and meant it should be 20 Trillion, like it is today. That is MORE than doubled in 7 years, which is something no other two term president has been able to manage. But hey, Blame Bush for that.

And since we are talking "she" I wonder if your view of Clinton's disastrous years as Secretary of State is going to play into your voting. My guess is that it isn't. Her admitted lying to the American People leading up to the last Presidential Election should be enough to keep her out of office, but in Democrat Primaries that is considered a leading skill and job qualification.

I've seen "poor code" that was clearly good code, hacked together to get something done. It worked for what it was designed. It was "poor" in the long run because the system needed to evolve, but never did. The code didn't change, and it looked like garbage down the road a bit. It wasn't garbage, it just needed improvements, that were too costly to implement.

That kind of code isn't really "poor code" when it was writtten. It was a quick hack that was forgotten. Hind Sight is always 20/20.

Of the case scenario you have given, it just looks like dick waving. And non of that requires GPU. You're talking about a headless Server, and you want a GPU? Hell, you could do all that on Arduino if you wanted (and earn more dick waving AP)

And 2009 is five years ago, time to upgrade anyway. You run your custom stuff on a rig that might experience catastrophic failure at any time?

The only place I see today needing a GPU, is gaming. And if you're running Gaming rig, you're going to want high end current CPU, GPU lots of ram, lots of fans and ventilation, which isn't the same rig as a quiet HTPC.

The problem isn't the system, it is the software and databases that require millisecond accuracy.

The problem is that time is not as linear as we think it is. Even accurate clocks can start having time shifts in relation to each other. This is all spelled out in Physics and is (or at least, should be) well known.

We need to change how we keep track of time, in a way that isn't linear.

We don't need Government Scrutiny. Most of these universities are "government" run institutions. This is the case with Cal State Fullerton.

I have the ultimate solution, taken from the likes of OSS, lets make all of our textbooks setup with Creative Commons License that allows for competition and free digital forms for all students. Why are still using Dead Tree versions, other than to perpetuate the scam that is University Text Books. This way, the students get what they need without sacrificing (needlessly). Teachers can have some freedom to pick which books to use, the University can pick what books to use and everyone is happy.

Lastly, Math is one of those courses that regardless of what book you're using, the result should be the same, competency/skill in the subject matter. When you're done, you should possess enough skill to go to the next level regardless of the textbook/school.

    3) 9-10 hours later, the parent(s) come and pick the kid up
