I realize that it works, which is why it is such a popular technique. Mentioning Saggy pants and how stupid they are, gets me labeled "racist". To which I usually respond ... "I didn't know saggy pants was genetic". If Saggy pants was genetic, I would assume it would apply more to the flat assed white people (and some Asians), but they seem to be able to keep their pants on.

But I understand why you wouldn't want to admit the Boy Who Cried Wolf applies here.

ABC News President Ben Sherwood, who is the brother of Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, a top national-security adviser to President Obama.
His counterpart at CBS, news division president David Rhodes, is the brother of Benjamin Rhodes, a key foreign-policy specialist.
CNN’s deputy Washington bureau chief, Virginia Moseley, is married to Tom Nides, who until earlier this year was deputy secretary of state under Hillary Rodham Clinton.
White House press secretary Jay Carney’s wife is Claire Shipman, a veteran reporter for ABC.
NPR’s White House correspondent, Ari Shapiro, is married to a lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, who joined the White House counsel’s office in April.
The Post‘s Justice Department reporter, Sari Horwitz, is married to William B. Schultz, the general counsel of the Department of Human Services.
[VP] Biden’s current communications director, Shailagh Murray (a former Post congressional reporter), is married to Neil King, one of the Wall Street Journal‘s top political reporters.

But we are supposed to believe that there is no bias in the MSM news organizations.

It would be a win/win for just about everyone.

  5. The two party system was a broken fix to a broken problem. The fix isn't the two party system, it is a system where the power resides in LOCAL leaders, not in a powerful central government. As the Federal Government increases in power, that power increasingly gets consolidated away from the people who are being governed.

The fact that Liberal, conservative, libertarian and socialists feel like they aren't being represented, is because in reality, none of them are. THE only people being represented are those that have access to the power structure in far away cities. I don't have that access, you don't, most people here don't. I can call my congress critter, but they don't listen to me.

The TWO party system has created the very thing that we hate, but we are unwilling to even look at breaking it up, because of the unknown results. Something about the devil you know verse the devil you don't.

  6. I saw this a mile away. Pokemon is not a "team" game, it is an individual game, that can be played in groups. The group aspect isn't even necessary for the game itself, it is more social than game related.

Because there is very little interaction required among players, players aren't engaged with each other. Eventually you catch them all and then what?

If you are tired of Pokemon, but like the VR world, might I suggest you try Ingress. There are multiple facets to Ingress, you can play alone, as part of a team, explore, do missions, build fields, control zones, badges to collect (some damn near impossible to get) . If you get bored with one aspect, there are several others to pique your interest if you want.

At this point, they can only release more Pokemons, which is only a very short term fix. They may be able to introduce more team play, but since the incarnation of the original Pokemon game, they will have to create some new part of the Pokemon lore to do so. AND that will piss off the hardcore fans.

    1) It was deliberate (really bad for her)
    2) She had a duty and was incompetent or negligent or carelessly deleted emails she was supposed to keep.

In order for you to believe the lies/misstatements/untruths/mistakes/ she spewed, you have to think she has some sort of MENTAL issues. And given the careful parsing of language that changed over the course of months as the details emerged that her previous statements weren't quite accurate, I can't help but think it was all intentional. "No Classified" became "Marked Classified" (neither which was true) which became "I was completely truthful to the FBI, which was exactly what I said to the American People".

    So, when you say

And to steal Arthur C Clarke's line ... "Any sufficient level of incompetence is indistinguishable from malice"

And all the idiot (D) and (R) voters who know NOTHING about actual candidates randomly picked whomever from the list of 5 - 8 names on the ballot, how that would spread the vote out, so that no person ever got to 50%.

Imagine for a second, that ONLY two or three people were on the ballot for the General Election, having secured those positions by voting in the primary (completely open none-partisan) election where no party was ever mentioned.

Imagine then, the following, California primary for President, has the primary winners being Hillary and Bernie, with Jill Stein as third place (and qualified for Nov), and Texas has Trump and Cruz and possibly Hillary, and Florida, Trump, Rubio and Bernie. And Ohio for Kasich, Hilary and Bernie ...

Now, imagine how the ENTIRE population is properly represented, rather than the crappy choices we have today between Dumb and Dumber, and two third party candidates that people WANT to vote for, but are too afraid that it might mean Hillary or Donald actually wins.

I mean, if EVERYONE I know, who is voting, but is voting not FOR someone, but rather to keep the OTHER out actually voted for Gary Johnson (L), he would win in a landslide. So, if you aren't voting FOR someone, please vote FOR Gary Johnson.

Why are did they describe a piece of technology and make it illegal, only to have creative people come up with alternative methods that DO not violate the actual law, that does pretty much the exact same thing as a bullet button does, just not in the exact method described in the law that makes it illegal?

Morals are completely subjective. In some society it is moral to toss gay people off the top of buildings. I prefer to deal with concepts like Liberty in such a way as describing them so that subjective morality is not the rule of law.

I am not sure how my view of "Self Evident" rights equates to your idea of nihilism, so that seems to be a strawman for something I do not believe.

Using the case above (again) the idea that killing someone is already illegal, the methods are irrelevant. The Definition of murder is fairly simple and is based on behavior and harm caused to another sovereign human. The world has moved from this paradigm and I think we are worse off because of it. In my world, the "Twinkie Defense" (see Harvey Milk Murder) would never have occurred, and the murderer would have been tossed in jail or had the death penalty applied.

The button on a weapon being made illegal is just creating a crime based on technology, not anything that actually causes harm to anyone. IF you want to make bullet buttons a bad thing, then use compounding crime, Using a quick release button on a magazine during the commission of another crime (murder). Makes the bullet button legal, unless used during another crime. Not that makes any difference to the lawbreaker killing people.

I would postulate that ANY law that is technologically, or business specific is bad legislation, because the regulated entities will simply find a way to route around the inefficiencies created by "there ought to be a law" proponents.

California just recently passed a law regarding "bullet buttons" on rifles. It accomplished NOTHING, because the way the law was written, it was easily routed around. So, while the Specifics of the law made those SPECIFIC modifications to the weapon illegal, the industry quickly made changes to bypass the law, and now, we have new and improved "bullet button" solutions that get around the specifics of the law. The law solved NOTHING, while making law abiding citizens criminals for no other reason than "There ought to be a law" that was passed.

And all the laws that were designed to prevent banking meltdowns didn't stop the last meltdown, and now we have more laws that won't stop the next one. Instead of creating new laws, how about tossing people in jail for actual criminal behavior. I am sure we could toss a few Bankers in jail for committing fraud for their schemes to rip people off.
