$9 for a tiny bit of wire with a 3.5mm in on one end and a lightning out on the other? And you think that's reasonable? Do you think the airbuds are about the right price too? You're the kind of sucker apple relies on.

  5. The mac on the other desk at work has a wireless mouse (apple built) that has the charge port on the bottom of it! What genius though of that? Gave us a good laugh that did when it came in.

  6. And they all look the same to me. Same number of ports, same use pattern. No variance. Like they're all copying one another.

    As is the apple way.

  7. The dongle is simply a "security blanket" for people like you that whine and gnash your teeth at change. In a year or two, they'll drop the dongle completely because people that use headphones with their iPhone will all be using the wireless ear buds.

Other phone manufacturers will follow suit and the headphone jack will be gone from all new phones by 2020.

So in a year or two you expect everyone to have spent another $150 for the headphones? And you also expect every other manufacturer to copy them because that's what already happens....oh wait, no it doesn't especially when apple try to sue you for having a device that looks kind of similar. No doubt they'll patent a one connection design. Next year after that they'll drop that in favour of wireless charging and wireless file transfer and have no holes at all! All the ifans will gush like its the best thing ever and put up with it because the love getting ifucked by apple.

  8. Yeah there are, but as they're out they're obviously not following apple. Some more might ditch it sure, but all of them? Within a year? Not a chance.

  9. But if you want a phone with a 3.5mm Jack, don't look to Android to save you. There won't be 3 Android phones with a 3.5mm Jack by this time next year, and none of them will be Flagship phones.

The fuck are you smoking? Can I have some? You think every manufacturer is going to blindly follow whatever apple do? They all going to switch to lightning and airbuds too or all conspire to push usb headphones? Just no.

  10. The dongle comes with the phone.

I still think the idea is stupid, though... but I'm not in the market for a new phone, in any case.

I doubt it, they'll expect to you use the shitty lighting ones they package. Using non approved/standard bits cost you extra.

  11. So either they hook up through the analog adapter or they design a Lightning version.

    ...and pay royalties to Apple.

    Ka-ching!

Or go Bluetooth, and pay royalties to someone else.

Until they decide to stop supporting bluetooth.

  12. Speakers, microphone and volume control are all the same thing.

Maybe they just meant audio? So good luck to you if you want to listen and charge or transfer data or another thing, unless you spend an $159 of course.

UC is a system of campuses.

What is stopping them from "outsourcing" their IT to another UC school which teaches system administration as part of it's curriculum. It seems like it would be a good opportunity to teach remote administration.

    What am I missing?

  14. Yeah but what if i came and said that i dont come to change the old laws, my dad (who is also me) set these rules in what well call the old book but to enforce them. These rules not only condone but encourage slavery and murder. I'd hope people look at my whole history and not one little hippie phase were I contradicted myself loads of times, flat out lied and said a lot wierd stuff like to be my follower you must hate your parents and still relied on the overall threat of hell. Plus I actually exist so I'd be able to talk to these people doing stuff in my name and try to convince them to stop and if they don't publicly condemn amd criticize them. Even more so if I had the ultimate powers of god.

Fine, but you can sell the cheese packet on Ebay if you want. Try selling your OEM copy of Windows on Ebay sometime. The pre-installed software is either chattel goods for sale or it isn't, one or the other. Microsoft (and Apple) want to have it both ways.

You can try sell that shit if you want. I've not bought a laptop in a while but as far as I know they all come with the key, be it in the box somewhere or stuck to the computer. You could quite easily sell/give that to someone and they can then install a copy of that version of windows. At the end of the day you can't pick and choose what parts of a product you like you either buy what they're selling or don't. You can ask them to change the package sure but they can tell you no as well.

[[Citation]] because you're still begging the question.

    Counter-proof:

Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi, Maxwell, Planck, Einstein, Tesla, Feynman, Woz, etc., were all great men and they *didn't* beat it over the heads of others to show it.

To be fair, the only reason Jesus is a thing is a counter to the threat of hell, which is pretty bloody violent. Not to mention all the violence and blood shed in his name over many, many years. Also the justification of slavery. You're better off steering well clear of any religious stuff when claiming they don't need violence. You also don't need to be physically violent yourself. Some Japanese would argue that Feynman was incredibly violent based on what he created/enabled and by extension maybe Einstien too.
