    Most Access Points put out a measly 15mW. Some will get you 35mW. What you need is a decent antenna combined with a more powerful radio card.

    This absolutely true of most 5.8 phones out there. It takes more power to transmit at the higher frequency so in order to preserve battery life and keep the same range they handset actually talks at the 2.4 frequency.

    The team members got into a big pissing match with the project lead and they ended booting his ass. He got all up tight about it and has been making his opinions known in the forums as well as on his website where he details his interactions with Lucas Arts.

    His account did not include any VERY friendly negotiations. In fact, Lucas Arts threatened legal on his ass before anything else.

    As soon as you add windows to the mix you are limited to a FAT variant or NTFS.

    Think about it... its relatively easy to have support for different filesystem types on a unix machine. How easily can you do that on a windows machine without buying something ugly and installing it??

    The 48g was a godsend for me in university. This was before the masses knew anything about being able to store and retrieve any decent amount of text from a calculator. All my biochem formulas got neatly stored in a little app called YONPY or something like that (I think it stood for Ye old notepad). People supervising the exams had no clue -- prolly just thought I was a big geek with a calculator at least twice the size of others. I dont think you can get away with this now though.

  23. While your at it on Is Remote Keyless Entry Any Safer Than It Used to Be? · · Score: 2, Interesting

    Alot of the makers now use imobilizer chips in their keys. Without this embedded chip, the car wont start even if the key matches.

    Great idea, until you want another key made. Mr Keyman at your local mall will happilly grind you a matching key without the chip thus making the 4 bucks you just spent useful for only opening the doors. Now the kicker -- you need to go to the dealer to get a real key and get reamed in the ass for at least 50 bucks.

    If your getting a new car, try to get the dealer to throw in a extra key or two.
