This is very true. Am I suppose to trust the news because I've heard how impartial and wonderful it is? I don't think so. Trust has to be earned and the traditional news outlets have done little to earn my trust. On the rare occasion I read a good article that is impartial or exposes unpleasant truths then my trust of that particular news outlet goes up. Otherwise I go on assuming they are just trying to get viewers/readers so they can sell their ads to make their money.
Will you stop grabbing my balls at the airport now?
It is funny you say that because... No! They are now stepping up security. Because this is now a system were we can't go back, only forward. And forward is bleak.
This. There has been one serious Android tablet out for two months and its overpriced and glitchy. The other serious Android tablets are just now coming out, this week. Were they expected to grab half the market in a week? Because that is fucking ridiculous. Let's have this conversation again in a year, then we'll see how the numbers look.
That is really neat to think that even if we somehow had a ship that could travel the speed of light, it would still take us 16 hours to get to our furthest reaching probe. Neat, depressing, and impressive all at the same time.
Anyone mention Fon (www.fon.com) yet? Its not really open to just anyone, but I think it is somewhat interesting. It sort of brings the "open to anyone" concept to "don't rape my internet".
This looks neat. But there is no way in hell I am buying anything from Sony. They've probably rigged it so that three days after you buy it a circus clown pops out of and tries to stab you in the face.
Popular tablets have been around for like a year. If it is a fad than we are still in the throws of it. So there is no telling whether or not they will be using tablets in the future. Also, I thought tablets were suppose to be intuitive enough that you could just pick it up and know how to use it. Why do they need any experience with it?
From the numbers I saw they've quadrupled since 2006. However, its easier to go from 10 billion to 40 billion than to go from 40 billion to 160 billion.
Yeah, the USA isn't leaders in anything. Not GDP (twice China's, the next highest), not military spending (being spent on research and development and invading countries), not space flight (rocked the moon), not charitable contributions (twice France's, the next highest), not pharmaceuticals (half of the top companies are USA based). The USA also doesn't get looked to when shit goes down. That's why when countries start going down the crapper, other world leaders don't look to the USA to do anything. Thank god too, because who wants the responsibility of helping the whole goddamned world.
Yeah, the USA is useless. Every one of its actions just proves that every anti-USA person, who only looks at the negatives of the country, is correct. The USA should just become isolationists again. Afterall, the world would be better off.
So glad that the people who use these machines on people and make mathematical mistakes in their logs are the ones that are going to be testing it for safety. That should settle the matter.
If you believe that spending time to hunt down every bug is a cost effective solution to every problem then I really don't know how to respond to you. The fact of the matter is I try to minimize company costs, regardless of my desires. If I feel that rebuilding is more cost effective, I'm doing it. And a good chunk of time that is going to be the cheapest course of action, both short and long term. As for why you make more money, money is not 100% indicative of good ideas or skills. It's called failing up.
How outrageous that these people don't explore the complex and time consuming issues. Don't they realize that the pursuit of knowledge is *way* more important than getting it done quickly. I mean, in a world where time equals money they shouldn't look at it as tossing money into a hole; they should look at it like investing in their collection of potential Jeopardy trivia.
I know if I had a boss hovering over me, not understanding what was wrong, and just pressuring me to get it done I would tell him to shove off so I could learn. Who cares that every minute I spend working on the issue is a minute I can't spend on other problems. Who cares that I could be replaced by a system admin who would get it done quickly. Knowledge and what other system admins think of me is what is important. After all, those pay the bills./sarcasm
I think you are right. Microsoft does do some amazing and awe-inspiring things but tends to go in the wrong direction with them. It seems like the Kinect was the closest they have come to one of their wonder-toys going in the almost right direction. Once they saw where the consumers were going with it they said "Oh, that's actually a great idea" and are now going to put out SDK's and functionality for computers. If Microsoft would make more of their innovative stuff available to people I think they could really strike gold.
They probably could publish it in english as a work of parody, which falls under fair-use, and which the courts have been more than willing to uphold (Fair Use and Parody). The Tolkien estate might sue, but I doubt they would win.
I was still on the fence about the PS3. Now after all this holier-than-thou pursuit of hackers and pirates by targeting anyone who so much as looks at their PS3 the wrong way just takes it to far. I now have no intention of buying a PS3 or any other Sony gaming system. I don't need a company being a little bitch about what I do with my property.
This made my day. Literally, I read this, and I smiled, and then spent all day smiling about it.
Thank you for that reference. And a magnificent one at that.

And despite your comment, it is you that comes out looking like the asshat.

Unfortunately I just learned about it today (rather, yesterday) so I don't have any experience with it.

Say what you will, but considering that Bing got 10% market is rather impressive.
From the numbers I saw they've quadrupled since 2006. However, its easier to go from 10 billion to 40 billion than to go from 40 billion to 160 billion.
Eh, screw the whole thing.

But who cares who it was as long as it dies.
Isn't this how most modern zombie movies start?

I'm suddenly very happy that I decided not to buy a PS3. It's too bad, because it really was an attractive system.
The fact you can say this without getting shot should be proof that you have some freedom.
...
Screw the plant, use a damned dog.
