People are too quick to stop stuff that is already in motion. But I say if it isn't your money....let's see where this is going. There is only a small chance that it might break the world, and a lot bigger chance that it should be comedic gold.
Maybe this indicates that British audiences are a hell of a lot more likely to get high before watching British television shows. Who could blame them?
Seriously though, I bet if you did a study on the number of men under 25 you would find that 90% play video games or have played video games (aka, what they call a gamer). It would be like saying that the gunman didn't like doing chores or had at some point attended a concert.
If I didn't want the government to know it, I sure as hell would not post it on facebook. It would probably be more secure if I posted a notice on my front door with the information.
In that short lived tv show Defying Gravity, wasn't that how they secured a lot of funding? They would shoot video of them doing something for some company and the entire world would watch it because it was the most amazing mission the world had ever seen.
Some people might consider that selling out the mission or the science. However, I say better to get there sometime in the next two decades riding on the collective backs of the commercial industry then get there sometime next century with the "no-strings attached" money of people's collective good will. We'll get there sooner this way, and we can all benefit from the resulting advances in knowledge and science.
They have a link on that page to send messages to the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. This message will also be sent to your senators and members of congress. If all of us sends one than our voices can be heard.
Injustice happens. Complain to the authorities as much as you can and they'll get the idea that we do not enjoy it and will be an annoyance until they do listen. Especially the elected officials.
Perhaps the reason we start at a higher level than BASIC is because we want the kids to get in there and start going first. A hello world program is pretty exciting. But if it takes you a shit ton of time to make it happen you aren't going to capture the attentions. A simple program should be simple. I know I found the underlying structure and commands a hell of a lot more interesting once I saw what their higher level counter-parts could do.
With how well NASA's gear works long after their mission is complete perhaps they should start selling toys and cars to fill in all those budget holes that they have.
To every person that says they are so disappointed in how nobody is fighting back against the TSA:
Why the fuck do you think there have been so many anti-TSA article on slashdot and in mainstream media?
Its almost as if everyone is pissed...
Not all resistance has to be an overnight thing.
That article is definitely worth a read. I would happily accept a shift to an Israeli model of airport security, if only for the simple reason that it would get you through airport security in 25 minutes. The additional security and nobody handling my junk or ogling my nakedness, and we have ourselves a winner.
They picked the wrong time to make their 3D push. The economy just tanked and movie ticket prices are already ridiculous. So why the hell would we want to pay an additional $5 to see a movie that may or may not look better. I understand slapping down $5 when it can get you something extra, but with the way 3D has been that is not always the case.
This is not entirely accurate. Because with DRM you don't just lose paying customers from the 100K. You also convert some of the 900K non-paying customers into paying customers. Maybe this will only work for the first couple of days or weeks, but it is still worth it.
In fact, if you have a modest DRM you can probably minimize the number of people lost from the 100K while converting some of the 900K to paying customers. I am hardly an advocate for DRM, but I do believe that game makers deserve some compensation for actually making the game.
Do you think in a capitalistic society that having no copyright is going to promote the production of goods such as video games? Or basically any work of similar nature?
I think you are right in some regards. They haven't blazed a trail. But I think it is mostly because they don't make their innovative products widely available, they price it into obscurity, or they don't move forward with their genuinely interesting ideas.
I would love there to be more games released on the PC. As a relatively young and poor person I am unable to shell out money for new consoles when they come out. However I need a PC for many other endeavors, so games for the PC are my best option.
And the best thing about PC gaming are the many interesting independent games that you can buy for relatively cheap.
My only grudge is I don't want to have to establish an internet connection to play my game.
This is ridiculous. First that they would require laptops. Second that they would require Macs.
I have to wonder what kind of work are these kids doing. Last I checked English, Math, and most other subjects can be taught without computers. In fact, many of them are better taught without computers because they would require specific/bulky/crappy software. Sure there are uses for a computer, such as looking up stuff online and word processing, but how often are they doing either of those things in class.
All this on top of the fact that people bitch because kids get distracted by computers and suffer from information overload.
Can you have a truly progressive state if it has heavy and deep ties to a religion? There are several states and religions that come to mind...

Where do you think big companies stick the crappy coders? In the applications so basic you think they wouldn't screw it up. Lesson learned.

Would that count as a referral? I don't know how my health insurance would like that...

And there is something wrong with the whole security theatre to begin with...

That is what happens when black holes suck up too much of element 16.

If not letting people see how batteries work is causing "dumbing down", then Apple is creating an army of idiots.
At this rate the corporations are going to be setting up moon hotels while NASA is still trying to get off the planet.
