That's actually one reason I prefer the night elf race in WoW. The shadow meld (basically stealth but you can't move) racial trait is great for when you need to get up from the computer on short notice. Just park your guy somewhere out of the monster path and turn it on. You will generally be safe.
So because you have a personal problem with addiction to these types of games you think they should change the model? Should alcohol be banned because certain individuals have a tendency towards alcoholism? How about sex outside of monogamous married relationships because some individuals suffer from sex addiction? Cigarettes are still not banned even though they contain one of the most physically addictive substances. It's good that you realize YOU have an issue with these games. YOU can then take steps much like an admitted alcoholic to take control of your life back from your addiction but please don't presume that your condition is universal.
End game raids are usually planned days in advance. An app that allowed you to track who is planning to attend via a website or mobile wouldn't be a bad thing.
No idea how it does. I think it might have to do with allowing you to immerse yourself in the game better. You block out any distractions around you and get more focused. Most of my best FPS matches were played while stoned and or drunk.
"Now, granted, the game is really geared towards leveling up and acquired virtual items so that you are better than someone else."
I never really cared about being better than someone else. I just wanted levels and gear so I could survive in new zones or instances and enjoy more of the game.
For the standard quests sure I agree with you. The high end raid content requires considerably more skill. Particularly in terms of coordination of multiple players. This is the one area where MMOs are more sophisticated than other games. Learning the coordination in a 25 man raid event is considerably more challenging than having a beer and watching TV. if all you are looking for is a single player RPG experience than you are correct, WoW is a shallow one. If you stuck around for long enough you would find that the "massively multiplayer" portion of the game is actually quite different. It is a gaming experience you can only have in a MMO and generally the one area where they shine.
The Jews aren't the only displaced people in the world. Without leaving the US you can find all of native American tribes as well as the Hawaiians. History is one long tale of more powerful groups killing or evicting others from resources they wish to claim. How do you decide who gets their land reinstated? Over the course of history this can happen repeatedly over the same territory. Certainly if the UN decided Manhattan island had to be restored to the Lenape tribe there would be hell to pay.
I saw a preview showing so I guess I'm supposed to be "embargoed" on writing a review but here's mine anyway:
"My five year old daughter liked it. It wasn't too scary for her and the jokes the robot troopers made were not over her head. They made her laugh out loud. She loved the funny robots making mistakes and falling down. Plus she thought Jabba's son was both cute AND gross at the same time! He made a burrrp! Ewwww! She didn't really understand why Jabba's uncle talked in such a silly accent or why he had a feather in his head but he was pink so she thought that was pretty cool."
Mmmmmmm doped out Leia hanging for dear life on Chewie's arm while belting out lyrics to the Star Wars theme. What about Itchy's virtual porn and his humping noises? Jefferson Starship rocks out! Thirty minutes straight of Wookies grunting at each other! Bea Arthur cuddling up with cantina monsters and singing "It's good night my friend but not goodbye my friend". The Star Wars Holiday Special is like something from an alternate universe. The surreal sense that overcomes you when watching it is amazing. Horrible? Yes. Fascinating? Well I think so.
I found the end light saber battle ruined by the unexplained purple force field crap that separates Obi Wan from Qui Gon. It's like some obstacle you would encounter in a bad video game. The only point was so we could see Obi Wan scream as his master gets killed and he can't do anything to help despite his Jediness. Laaaaammmmme.
Given that the Jedi order in the prequels act like a bunch of elitist, self righteous, overblown assholes - the aristocracy angle works better for those movies.
The Ewoks were also strong enough to shoot twigs into stormtrooper armor. Or maybe stormtrooper armor is just made of styrofoam. The Ewoks should have been Wookies. It would have been a better movie in my opinion.
After he mercilessly butchers the Sand People I had a hard time believing him to be a nice guy just trying to do good. At that point he was already acting like a sociopath.
Like Nintendogs? Or Pikmin? Or Ice Climbers? Or Wii fit? or Wii Music? Or Wii Sports? Or Zelda?
Yes he works on a lot of Mario games and he created the character when he made Donkey Kong but he has been directly involved with a lot of other Nintendo games.
Uh yeah sure Wildheart was a viable set for feral druids. No it wasn't. What about ret pallys? How about prot pallys? Stacking warrior gear doesn't work for a prot pally. You could get away with rogue gear for cat form feral dps but good luck tanking. The talent builds for hybrid classes became way more viable post expansion.
Huh, I just did LBRS to help a friend level two nights ago. Earlier she was tanking Scholomance with a pickup group. We have "retro night" guild raids every couple weeks. Last time it was Ahn Quiraj 20 man and the time before was Zul Gurub. People are keying for a retro Onyxia raid. No one goes because they want the gear drops - it's just for fun and to see content some people had missed. Molten Core pickup groups are pretty common on my server as well. I'd love for Blizzard to revamp these instances but I can see why they don't bother. If you hit sixty well before BC came out, odds are you ran most of them many times.
The server I play on has seen a serious increase in players over the past few months. I was surprised to see the damn login queue show up last weekend.
You have it a little backwards. Good gear (epic loot) is a requirement to run the end game content. Getting the gear is a way to see the content. End game raids are another part of the road. There is a gear progression required in order to be able to do the end game raids. I know some people like to wave their epeen about and look down on non-raiders but I believe those are in the minority. You may notice them because they are vocal. I don't run end game raids for loot - if I get a nice item it's gear that will allow me to move to the later stage raids. I enjoy the end game raid battles because they are a lot of fun. I enjoyed the leveling game as well and pvp for that matter. I have one level 70 and two level 62s. I can certainly understand why someone may want to rush to 70. The complete class talent builds and the gear that make them viable aren't available until you hit max level. People enjoy different things about the game. Some prefer the questing and leveling game, some prefer pvp and some prefer instances and end game raiding.

If you thought 15-20 was bad.... 40-50 was unbelievable. I did it once on CoH but I could never stomach getting a villain higher than 41.
"they appeal to people with shallow interests who don't want to put a lot of effort into a video game"
By this comment I can see that you have never played the game to any real degree.
In terms of what is consistently manufactured by human beings, all people are glorified poop machines.
Come on really now. It's time Gnomeregan was taken back by the gnomes. I can't stand that place.

There you have it.

There are some very nice bootlegs of the original versions transferred off of laser disc. Including full menu and chapter support on the DVD.
Don't tell George!

"The games they have on the site look like something that you would have played on a Commodore 64 or an Atari."
Uh, you do realize that's exactly the point of them don't you?

I'd be careful putting cracked discs in your drive. I've had a disc explode inside my DVD drive due to a slight fracture on the edge.
