    mismatched-typing issues are a tiny minority of bugs I've seen make it to production

    that's a pretty big qualifier.

    what if the documents were in a foreign language. would it be the responsibility of the witness to translate for the court? what if the witness had forgotten (or never knew) how to read the foreign language?

    substitute cipher for language. it makes no difference.

    meh. there's plenty of stuff pipelining does allow you to do out of order and still comply. and pipelining on hinders your ability to mitigate DoS attacks if your metrics are trivial.

    reminds me not to buy f5.

    Secular governments are built on the principle that it is not for the state to promote religious beliefs ( or lack thereof ).

    interestingly the US constitution (after amendment) was the 1st such document to ban religious establishment. it was also the only original concept at that time.

    US antitrust laws don't apply here. i think what you're suggesting is a complete rewrite of contract law. I'm not sure it would get very far either in the courts or congress.

    ouch, there's no excuse for bad architecture. You're correct - passing stuff around in DataSets is BAD. but this is not the fault of the framework. there's plenty of ways to do this right in .NET.

    as for MySQL, steer clear of ODBC, go with a native provider or consider switching to SQL Server.

    you can download & install the full-blow SQL Management Studio for free. It connects to SQL Express just fine. But seriously, there are so many ways to get this stuff for free or cheap, it's not really an issue.

    conspiring to subvert the will of people (lobbying) is a crime (IMO) that's ignored by the whitehouse, encouraged by the courts, and abused by the courts.

    we the people need to do something about it.

    and if the constitution gets in our way then maybe it's time for a new one...

    camping out downtown won't change anything while special interests are in your representatives' back pockets.

    here's something every american should agree on:
    - put a cap on campaign spending
    - make lobbying a capital offence (treason)

    then we can start having a meaningful discussion about what we want our representatives to do for us. until then it's all just noise.

    $200? hardly.

    $10 for a keyboard/mouse if you can't get hold of an old set.
    $3 for a micr-USB charger, if you can't find a powered USB socket.

    what else? a TV, an internet connection, a table, a chair, service from the power company, adequate nutrition. this stuff adds up!
