    The US had a massive, massive lead in aerospace. They are doing their best to throw it away, politically and culturally. The rampant anti-intellectual sentiment in the US will pretty much ensure they're at the back of the pack in coming decades.     Youtube or no Youtube, greed was the driver, and likely they couple would have found other ways to fuck up driven by greed, if Youtube was not available.
