Not to be nit-picky but I got a 500 dollar LCD at Target and I can definitely tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on it. Maybe I just got lucky though.
God of War 2 in 480p looks good, but the GOW collection in 720p looks way better. And I don't know if you've actually played GOW3 but it's on a completely different level graphically than Gow2.
Not that it's the best solution but I've played 4 player Mario Kart 64 through an emulator with my ps3 controllers and one 360 controller hooked up to my pc.
I have the wii mario kart too but we wanted to play the classic. (We had more fun playing the 64 one too, interestingly enough).
I second this. I have a gaming pc, a ps3, and a wii.
My wii sits collecting dust 90% of the time. My ps3 gets used a lot for netflix, and I play games on it every once in awhile; it gets a ton of use when I get a new game that I really like and I want to beat, like AC2. My computer gets used more regularly, although it's pretty much ignored when I'm playing a game on my ps3 like AC2.
In the end, my wii is great for playing Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart, when friends come over. Other than that it doesn't get used much at all.
I'll be getting PSMove come Christmas so I'll see how it compares. It seems like it will basically be Wii with PS3 graphic capabilities which should be nice.
I really do wish they would make a backwards compatible HD Wii though. Even if the graphics suck using a higher resolution would be nice. After playing my PS3 for an hour, playing the Wii physically hurts my eyes because everything looks out of focus and fuzzy.
This would be amazing. Of course, Google would receive tons of flack for this, while Apple can do basically the same thing and everyone thinks it's perfectly acceptable.
I agree, even with the wii's graphics, I wish it at least had 720p resolution. After playing something like little big planet for a few hours I can't play super mario bros without getting a headache from squinting at the seemingly fuzzy screen.
I like this post, If I had any mod points left I would definitely mod you up.
The game starts off at a set value depending on content, and then the graphics is a modifier.
We also can't forget about art direction when talking about graphics either. Some games that went for cartooney instead of realistic look much better today than other games from their time. Realistic doesn't tend to age well, because there will always be something more realistic. If you aren't shooting for realistic in the first place then your game can age much better. Of course, not realistic visual styles can still benefit from a more powerful system.
I would guess that when you look at a species as a whole, humans are much more social animals than most. Even that nerd sitting in the corner most likely has family connections that many animals don't engage in, and he probably has at least a few other nerdy friends.
Not to mention many nerds get a large amount of social interaction from forums, slashdot, mmorpgs, ect. Nerds aren't really any less social than socialites, they just get their social interaction from different sources. I'm guessing that besides a few extreme outliers, even the least social human is still more socially inclined than most animals.
To be honest I hate it when these Japanese company purposely tweak their game to try and make it more "Western friendly." I enjoy Japanese games, I like Nintendo, I like Squaresoft, and I like Western games for what they are.
Studios need to focus on what they are good at. A lot of American gamers like Japanese games, I'd much prefer if Western games and Japanese games stayed good at their own thing instead of trying to copy each other.
What's better, one great Japanese game, and one great Western game. Or a single sub-standard Japanese/Western game?
To be honest I'm baffled by all the hate Comcast gets online. I live in New Mexico and so far (About 2 years) Comcast has had the best customer service of any other companies I've had to talk to.
Verizon has been absolutely terrible and I am counting down the days until my contract is up. I had to talk to HP for like 4 days once to get them to take back my computer that shipped with a corrupted stick of RAM, and then they returned it to me 2 weeks later with the same exact corrupted stick still in the machine.
Comcast has been a welcome break from these two companies. Every time I call I get someone either in New Mexico or out of Colorado who speaks English well without an accent, and they are always very quick to resolve whatever problems I have. They almost never try to sell me a bunch of extra stuff and they actually informed me when my modem was out of date and came the next day to replace it with a newer one for me, for free.
Actually, Android was mentioned in this article also. In fact, the article is more or less an attack on Android and a defense of iOS. Saying that he is evangelizing his platform when an iPhone was mentioned makes absolutely no sense.
You must be so used to being scorned by Android fans that you automatically jump to the conclusion that everyone who defends android is some over-zealous apple hater.
"Is it so hard to understand that not everyone uses their phone like you do? Nor will we ever want to?"
I must say, this is more or less the argument that follows from every tech gadget in existence:
PS3 owners like to champion that they can watch blu-ray movies, their game disks can hold up to 50gigs of data, the PS3 has built in wifi, ect. But the 360 fans argue that they will never use any of these things so they don't care.
People who buy decked out PCs with 8gigs of ram and 2,000 dollars worth of stuff like the fact that they can do whatever they want with their computer. Sure, they might not ever actually use that capability, but it exists IF they ever need it.
It's the same thing with Android. Sure, SOME people won't ever use that capability, but if they do it exists.
It boils down to this, different devices are better for different people. Some people are perfectly willing to give up extra capability to have a more polished UI. Some people prefer the more customizable UI to a more polished one. Some people prefer the iOS marketplace, where they (for the most part) shouldn't have to worry about viruses or other things since apps are approved. Some people prefer the open-ness of Android's market and are willing to deal with malicious apps as necessary.
Why not just buy a used cell phone that is actually 10 years old, rather than a brand new one for 4 times the cost that works exactly the same as the 10 year old one?
I hear Spanish is a pretty useful second language to pick up, and Mandarin is getting more and more useful to know.... everyone else replies based solely on the headline too right?

Psh, my computer uses around 500 watts when I'm running a game. 100 is nothing.
This would be amazing. Of course, Google would receive tons of flack for this, while Apple can do basically the same thing and everyone thinks it's perfectly acceptable.
At least I can right click without using my keyboard!

Maybe I'm a bit on the odd side for my age but I'm only 20 years old.
Interestingly enough, this makes WAY more sense than our Western concept of what is gay or not.
I think most people have at least heard of Morse code. If from nothing else, from movies/tv shows where ships have to tap out SOS.

FF13 is a 3 disk game on the 360.

It really is just personal preference.

Thank you, very informative.
I guess it depends on what you consider "hate" material. I didn't know it was limited to advocating physical violence.
So stuff like South Park and Family Guy are illegal in Canada? Ouch.
I hear Spanish is a pretty useful second language to pick up, and Mandarin is getting more and more useful to know.... everyone else replies based solely on the headline too right?
In other news, the number of wild lions seems to have gone down since the Narnia series began.
Yay, you've just explained the concept of outliers to everyone.
Congratz.
The family should sue the dead old lady for not looking out and seeing two children riding bikes on the sidewalk before stepping into it.
Last I checked it's the job of adults to watch out for kids, not the other way around.
