We're all used to seeing just "GB", so when you see "GiB", it throws you off because it doesn't look right. Plus it looks like a word, in fact is a word (slang) in online FPS games. Plus it's a way of "showing off" for the technically "elite", aka the snobs who think they are so fucking smart and they just can't believe other people would prefer "gigabyte" over "gibibyte" :P

There comes a time when legacy support just isn't viable anymore. It's really hard to move forward when you constantly have to support old outdated junk like Win98. Microsoft doesn't even support Win98 anymore. It reminds me of when Apple dropped the floppy drive with the introduction of the iMac. People shit bricks but it needed to be done, and now look where we are. I haven't had a floppy drive in any of my computers for probably 6 years now, and I don't miss the sumbitches at all.

Jeez, what are you talking about? HL2 was given top marks by tons of magazines, web sites, and players all around. You can't please everyone but it's pretty much unanimous that HL2 was one of the best games of all time. It's the best single player FPS ever created IMO... :P

I totally agree but this is basically what Rob said he wanted, just a fresh coat of paint. I submitted a design that was a complete overhaul of the site, he said that even though he liked it, he was passing on it because it didnt look like slashdot. I think a bigger change would have been really nice. But the winner of the contest did do a good job, considering.

  13. Geez, why even bother.... on Warner Bros. to Sell Movies Over BitTorrent · · Score: 1

What a joke, I don't see them selling a single freaking copy with that kind of plan. If they want to offer a serious alternative to illegal downloading, there need to be very compelling reasons... instead they choose to price them the same as DVD's, but you can do WAY less with them, and you can't get them any earlier than normal DVD release date. Wow, sure to a hit guys! Way to be on top of the times!

They need to remember they're competing with FREE. If the downloads were $5 max, or if you were able to burn them to a DVD and they would play in any player, either of those might give them a decent chance. As is, this is a sure failure.

  14. HD-DVD has advantage I think on HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray - Is It All in the Name? · · Score: 1

I think Blu-ray is a "cooler" name, but think about it from the perspective of the average person. They know what HD is, and they know what DVD's are... they see HD-DVD and I'd wager at least 90% of them would guess correctly that it referred to high definition DVD's. You hear the term Blu-ray, and while it sounds nice, it gives zero clue as to what the product is.

Of course, with the PS3 having Blu-ray built in, that's a HUGE advantage... I'm really anxious to see how this plays out to tell the truth. :)

  17. I disagree on Half-Life Beats Half-Life 2 Over Time? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Half life 2 already down to the low 80's, what? This was the best single player FPS I've ever played. For their time they were both excellent games, but you go back and play HL1 now and it's just awful... I tried maybe 6 months ago and just couldn't get through more than a few hours, the graphics are abysmal and the play control makes you want to die. I'd give it 3 or 4 out of 10. On the contrary I've played through HL2 three times, and I absolutely love it every time, I dont think you could make a better game. There's still nothing that even comes close to competing with it in my opinion. It was 10/10 in November 2004 and it still is today. Just because there aren't as many MOD's for it doesn't make it horrible.
