    yeah, but I've replaced a bad rod in a Chevy, without pulling the engine. Had to have the crank turned under too and replace all the bearings but that's a lot easier than tearing apart everything to get engine out.

    For years, gun makers have been working on reducing weight of their gear. They've come up with alloys and composite materials that are as strong as steel but lighter and able to stand up to the pressures and abuse. Why don't they start making cars?

    Would be cool to have a Kimber Coupe!

    I'm a Mac user and I have a white Jeep. What?

    Actually, I got the Jeep for free. Had 278,000 miles on it when it died. Owner (neighbor at the time) said he was just going to give it away and wasn't going to sink another dime into it. I grabbed it, replaced the alternator ($117.00) and put another 23,000 miles on it. Just threw a rod a couple months ago and so far, haven't decided what to do with it. It's a '96 and has been kept in pretty decent shape. Maybe I'll repair the engine, throw a snow plow on it and use it around the farm.

    Yup, news is out; will have to sign up for contract first to get iPhone 2.0. Looks like it'll be an iPod for me.

    Once again, my wetware memory retains just the synopsis while the details are online. Truthfully, when trying to remember author, Asimov was not in the names that came to mind. Would never have found it. Wonder when computers will be able to identify something from rambling description like I gave?

    There was some old SF short story, where the big war may finally be won because they found a guy who'd taught himself how to do calculations in his head and not using a hand held. Once he trained up lots of folks, they'd be sure to triumph!
