    Not only are the cans heavier and bigger, but this will result in an increase in the pollution of the commons. More shipping == more lung cancer.

    And, not saying these idiot cans are at all usefull, but a Micro-fridge is a horribly inefficient load.

    It probably burns quite a bit of electricity for very little use.

    Every keyboard ALREADY autosenses the OS. It happens in software -- on the RUNNNING OS.

    Ie, WINDOWS certainly knows what the copy shortcut is (cntrl-c) as does GNU/Linux... this keyboard will only be printed differently than other keyboards.

    Or, are you suggesting that everybutton comes with a itsy-bitsy LCD that displays the letters on the surface/sides of the keys..?

    No, I would say it is typical of Extremist Groups -- or extreme RIGHT wing groups. The left is more tolerant of diversity than the right, it is very un-liberal for a group to stifle speech -- therefore not "typical".

    This would be typical of the Right -- not of the Left. But, mostly, not typical for either except for the most extreme.

    I already own the only, single-use/multi-use uber-convergant device: The PC.

    If proprietary-minded whores (MPAA/RIAA) embraced these *EXISTING* devices, we would all be much further ahead. Minor tweaks to my PC, and its the only device I need -- game machine, movies/music, internet, telephony yadda yadda yadda.

    The trick is these arsewholes want to put up iron-curtains around our lives in order to exercise total control over their percieved realms. These ego-maniacs exercise this control with abandon, and bring the very real might of the plutocracy to bend the world to their will. There is no reason 'consoles' arent PCI cards... hell, conversley, there is no reason my console isnt my PC. Making a platform for open development brought forth the Computer Revolution (despite the efforts of IBM to stop it at the time (and apple is a convenient anti-trust foil for MS)) but i digress.

    In short, fark single-use boxes -- just give me some software.... hell, i'll even pay reasonably for the media, but no one wants to do this, because it means cooperation between two massive capitalist industries... and they are more afraid of loosing their piece of the pie to the *real* pirates across Baystreet(or wallstreet or $your-financial-center

    But what about men who are interested in Nursing, but are intimidated away from it because they see it as femail-dominated? What about women who would enjoy CS, but are afraid of the stigma (real or imagined) attached to female nurses?

    Sure, don't try to force a 50:50 ratio no matter what, but it's good to encourage the breaking of badstereotypes, so people don't feel the need to take crap like that into account when chossing a career.

    The GM Truck is what they are calling a "parallel" hybrid. It is *NOT* used to propell the vehicle.

    In short, GMs truck isnt hybrid at all.

    As for the Escape, Ive driven it -- it is UNBELIEVABLE. Ive ordered mine already. Expect it October 13th.

    nope. Never raised horses. Lotsa tomatoes, peppers, peaches, pears, apples, melons, broccoli, lettuce, beans, peas, pickles, cucumbers, corn, wheat, plums, blueberries, raspberries, potatoes, onions and cabbage... no horses. nope.

    But(!) I did try and make yogurt last weekend. Boiled milk, used starter... no luck. Never tried it before. But(!) if I get it right, I was going to try and make cheese. If I can get a good source of milk (my little sister has 8 milk-cows she grows organically) I could probably get something going.

    Now, I wouldnt exactly have to clean the stalls... but(!) I could let my sister do it.

    Whadda think of that idea? Horses? Another toy, I ride my bike..

    Really. Segway polo is little more than rich kids playing with expensive toys. Like cross-country porsche races, the idea that this is a 'sport' and not simply a rich-person's distraction is tenable.

    At least using horses dosnt require the mining of heavy minerals, releases of off-gases at plastic plants, and no assembly is required. Replacing a piece nature with a pile of expensive kit is not exactly an improvment.

    This is almost as good as people suggesting that the $?k segway belongs on sidewalks because walking was not good enough.

    There will be no personal-automobile without oil. Thinking the future is going to have automagic cars drive on self-regulated highways is fantasy-land.

    This is like saying we are all going to have a nuclear-powered space-ship in our garage.

    Has anyone told these people about consumption, peak-oil, ecological-footprints or pollution? Are we hoping to divine usefull materials to replace everything we have that is made from oil today? In the same quantity? Enough for all?

    No, Ive never been on a working ranch. Ive known people who raise cattle (my sister); I rather like beef, chicken, rabbit, turkey, goat and lamb, Ive seen them all raised.
    Have you ever farmed your feed? Or dug a well for antibiotics? Do you ride your ranch on horses?

    Much of the news centered around three simple letters: DVD. 2004 is the year to substantially expand your Star Wars DVD collection. Fans are clamouring to get these DVDs. There have been numerous instances of fans -- in a blind, consumption-driven rage -- killing families in the mall to collect enough money for the pending release. If the reader has any doubt about the massive, pent up demand for this most tremendous release, he should have her his head examined. It is expected that the marketplace will reward this fall's most attentive consumers with this fine reward, miss this and you will wallow in the shallow, unfulfilled morass of the have-nots.

    Do you know how Industrial Farming works? With the equipment, huge barns, silos, energy, fuel, chemicals, tractors, medicine/hormones, fertilizer, etc etc etc?

    This method of raising food is 1) only possible by USING oil (find out how oil supports everything in the west..), 2) destructive of the natural-world (do you think polytanks come from God?) and 3) unhealthy for people and the environment (pollution makes you sick, kills nature)

    If those Oil pumps (and all the ones being stolen by washington's plutocratic warmongers in MEast) WERENT there, your farm wouldnt exist. Not even remotely close to the way it does today... as for 'change since 1800' im betting it has... UNLESS you are in the micro-minority of non-ILO (inustrial-livestock-operations) that I described.

    So, how many acres/head of cattle does your father farm? And in what manner?
