I just don't get how this "game" and all it's expansion packs could be so popular. Seems like playing with a dollhouse if you ask me. To me, the only "Sims" that seems to have any potential at all is the Sims Online.
Trying to match real-world events to Tolkien..

J.R.R. himself stated that LOTR has nothing to do with real-world events, and that he hated allegory. Yet we still get these pundits who try to link up his story to WWII, ect.
This sort of abuse is what let me to uninstall the Flash plugin from my browser (or lately, not install it to begin with). I think Macromedia is making a huge mistake by catering to the advertisers, instead of their end users (see sig).
There's a large backlash building up against Flash, which is a shame because it can be a cool technology, when it's not abused.
I'm suprised this mistake was not caught. The article has nothing to do with a new copyright system, which is a legal fiction. The article is about a new copy protection/restriction system.
This appears to actually be part of the copyright cartel's plan. First they twist the meaning of Pirate to include bootlegging, now copy protection becomes copyright, giving it a whole new outlook.
Apropos; supposedly the original Marijuana laws in the US were drafted for two reasons: a) to employ law enforcement after the repeal of Prohibition, and b) an attempt to slow the immigration from Mexico
I guess that's why my Yahoo! mailbox fills up with spam written in asian character sets? While I agree that there is much spam relayed off their servers, a lot of it's being generated there too.
All the current major browsers support DHTML, which is nothing more than manipulating the DOM through scripting. This includes MSIE, Opera, Mozilla-based browsers, and possibly others. The DOM is a W3C standard, thus any browsers which complies to that standard should be DHML-compatible.
You are indeed one profane mofo. If you're wondering what happened to Commodore the company, they declared bankruptcy and were liquidated in 1994. Their 8 bit assets are currently in possesion by Gateway Computer (USA), with the trademarks being held by Tulip Computer (Netherlands). I'm not sure who owns the Amiga tech. these days..

Actually, I did just this with a 486 Packard Bell. (details)
First, I converted the c64 motherboard to run from the PC power supply. Then I installed a 1571 floppy drive in the 5.25" drive bay. The 3.5" drive was hooked up to a 1581 controller board, and a Super Snapshot V4 rounded out the system.
For the keyboard, I used the original C64 case (now empty) with a DB25 cable, and replaced the red power LED with a nice bright blue one.:)
Ebay has a policy, however misguided it may be, of not allowing any recorded CDR's. They do this because apparently it's easier to blanket ban them than making judgement calls for each auction. He should have read the Ebay TOS, which clearly states this, before starting his auctions.
If only he had left out the part in his auction about it being a CDR, he would have been fine, and I'm sure no one would have complained. By the way, what does the DMCA have to do with this? (as stated in the article)
Tora Bora is the mountainous region near the Pakistan border where the Taliban and Al Quida forces holed up in caves. It was thought that Bin Laden was present when the US military dropped several "daisy cutters" (a 15,000 lb bomb) on the area, which possibly collapsed some of the caves. At any rate, he has not been heard from since.:)
I found your comments about Cuba and Turkey very interesting, I know that my government often avoids full disclosure, but I was unaware of this.
I believe that Bin Laden is extremely dead, lying under untold tons of rubble at Tora Bora.
Of course, it's extremely hard to prove that he is dead, and not just hiding somewhere. But were he still alive, could he resist bragging about it? In addition, the US government can continue their stupid war until it's proven beyond doubt that he's dead..
Why should we all support the stupid razor/razorblade business model that videogame systems have recently fallen into? How quickly would most Slashdotters buy a modchip if PC makers tried this shit?
Maybe if these video game companies priced their consoles so as to make a profit on hardware, instead of price gouging on liscensing fees, this would not be a problem?!
.. and where is losenotloose guy when we need him?
Tobacco companies engaged in a massive campaign of fraud and deceit.
Really? Because I've always thought that the warning on the side of each pack stating "Use of this product may cause cancer, ect, ect" was pretty much self explanatory.
On the other hand, it's no mystery that handguns kill people. In fact, that's all they are made for. Have you ever wondered why is it that gangs and other thugs seemingly have no problems aquiring handguns?
If tobacco companies can be held (partially) responsible for lung cancer deaths, then using the same logic, gun makers should be (partially) responsible for shootings.
Yes well, that's one sheet. Now let's shred 100 sheets, mix the resulting confetti and let Mr. Inspector try to sort out the results..
Well, Gore won in my state (Illinois), and thanks to the electoral college system, my vote had no influence on the national scale.
In my opinion, Democracy would be best served by abolishing the electoral college system and moving to a simple popular vote.
..but my unemployment insuance is running out fast. Hey, maybe I should start my own distro and beg for funds. heh

Just enjoy it for the story.

And if you never agreed to the EULA?

I think the raging debate over daylight savings time was just too much for the poor server.

I thought he meant getting a truckload of drunks to chuck the disks onto Steve Cases' lawn. Not that I would advocate such a thing of course. ;)

Please call us "Americans". I can't speak for anyone else, but I find the term "USian" vaguely offensive.
