Mod parent down as troll. Did everyone forget that VLC *asked* to have the page pulled? Cmon. I'm all for bashing Apple when they deserve it, but this isn't one of those times.
Yeah, no. Unless Microsoft is going to.. say.. Dell, and saying we won't give you a discount on licenses if you install McAfee or Norton as opposed to MSE, this isn't the same thing at all.
Go look up what *actually* happened before shooting off your mouth. It wasn't including IE or WMP that got Microsoft in hot water, its the other crap they did to make those dominant.
Okay. Have you ever noticed that when you put a new game in your 360 for the first time, the first thing it does is ask to download an update from MS? Even if you just got the game on launch day?
What's happening here is that the kinect software initiates its own firmware upgrade to make sure things work. That's fine, but when you actually load up the game, it tries to contact Microsoft for a non existent update.
Can anyone with an xbox tell me what happens if you decline an update? Yup. Booted off of live until you accept it.
There's some kind of version mismatching going on here. Nothing quite so tacky as a failed antipiracy method.
Um... yes it is. Go look at any DMCA request form online (even YouTube's). You have to attest, under penalty of perjury, that you own or hold rights to the work that you're reporting as infringing.
The only reason that Universal and the other MafiAA jagoffs can get away with this is because countersuing is long and expensive.
That's a load of sh*t and you know it. Why not put out the fire and then bill him for the $75? Having them show up but refuse to put water to flame is just plain mean on a level I don't quite have the words to describe.
And they *did* have to show up - to make sure the neighbor's houses didn't burn down. I'd say the FD should be on the hook for the cost of the house, reckless endangerment, and cruelty to animals.
From someone close to the CEO, supposedly he went to a number of financial organizations and told them to ignore what was on the front page in the following days.
Sounds like a sh*tty marketing stunt.

That's only if you're using some last-gen archaic browser that actually executes random code without letting you decide what gets executed.
I mean, seriously, it's like walking down a dark alley, picking up random hypos, and jabbing them into your veins.

No no no, you misunderstood. I meant MICROSOFT could have kept THE RESEARCHERS in the loop.
If MS doesn't want to play nice with the security researchers, they really shouldn't be surprised when the researchers.. um... research security.
They could have at least kept them in the loop instead of being complete jerks about it.
Serves Microsoft right. If Microsoft doesn't want people telling others how to break their OS, they'd better play nice with those people.
You don't play hardball with someone with nothing to lose.
Oddly enough, a lot of the caps didn't start to fail until after the warranty/recall period was up.
Which kinda SUCKS for me, seing as how my company has got a number of circa 2005 dell machines that are failing left and right.
Lawsuits are seriously being considered. No, I am not making this up.
And a hypocrite of the highest order. He writes a book about misleading headlines, ad placement, and other malarky, and then turns around and does the same malarky on his own freaking website.
Fark used to be good. It's turning into a dump.
The only problem with that is that big media is on the side of those we wish to attack. With an attitude like that, it's only a matter of time before the wrong kind of publicity is received, and any legitimacy goes down the tube.
Off topic, but you should update your censorship list. Many of those posts are not modded down
Not only the obscene markup on moving bytes, but the white-knighting of this behavior by some of the other posters

I would certainly discriminate against potential employees if I saw that they were a WoW geek.
And that makes you a colossal douche. I, for one, don't care what my employees do in their off time.

That is a bug that needs fixed or a feature that needs added, then. It's not impossible.
