Not only does this let me document everything I can about the network but I also try an train my co-workers in using it to document information they feel is important for their job too.

The effectiveness though seems to be related to the level of computer literacy of the user, i.e. my last company the software developers went crazy with it and documented everything they could think of. But other than them or us in the I.T. dept, no one use would hardly touch it at all.

Either way it's still a simple method for your to store notes, diagrams or any information about your network in an easy to find single location that you feel would be important to the company should you leave for any reason.

Once you receive a copy of the software under a specific license or terms, that can't be retro actively changed by the copyright owner (Unless that was agreed upon in a contract).

Take SSH as an example. The original versions by Tatu Ylönen were released under a free license until version 1.2.12. After that he started adding various rescritions to his licenses until finally turning it into closed source purely commercial software.

The OpenBSD team was able to take the last free version 1.2.12 and fork it into a new project OpenSSH which has since surpased the original SSH (now OSSH) in functionality, features and popularity.

OpenSSH still holds some of Tatu's original code which he still owns the copyrights for, but since that code was released to the public under a free license with no restrictions on it's use, he can't now come back and tell the OpenSSH developers they can no longer use that code.

Back in highschool, for about 2 years, the question wasn't "was I stoned" but instead what days I wasn't stoned.

A small group of friends and I smoked pot constantly, daily, until one day one of our major sources moved away.

At that time we basically decided that was fun, now time to move on with our lives.
And we did, there was no cravings, no elevated emotional states, or any other addictive type symptons. We just quit, simple as that.

Now it's about 20 years later, and while I've smoked the occasional bowl a few times within those years, I've never gotten addicted to it nor even bothered to try any of the hardcore drugs that pot is supposed to lead you into.

As for your friend, he sounds like a very addictive personality that runs the risk of becoming addicted to anything. There are people like that, who I wouldn't advise using pot, but then I wouldn't advise them to start playing EverQuest either.

Personally I just untar into /opt/firefox and create a link in my window manager. When I want to upgrade or try a different version, wipe out the directory and untar a new one.

Also the reason Mozilla does it this way, is it makes it super easy for any of the distro's to create an install package for it. They dont even have to compile the app if they dont want. So if your really missing that rpm to install, complain to your distro for not releasing one yet.

Unless your counting those fries with your burger and coke as part of your anti oxidant regime?

The myth about Atkins being only about high protien and fat is just that a "myth". The main point of the nutritional regime is to cut out processed sugar and "empty" or "bad" carbs, like those found in white flour, starches etc. Especially in the later phases of Atkins good carbs from fruits etc are not only ecouraged but required.

Also of note, I started Atkins because a roommate of mine has been following it for a couple years. At 5'4" 300+ lbs, with diebetes she was in far more danger of heart disease, stroke etc than she is today 150lbs lighter and her blood sugar levels are so well controlled thru her diet she doesn't even need insulin for her diabetes. You didn't read the article did you? This isn't about AV software warning a user that an email they recieved might contain a virus. It's about AV software the sends a reply back to the supposed (sender) of the email saying they are infected.
The problem here is that lately pretty much all email based viruses forge their From: address to make it look like the email came from what is actually an innocent party.

I use Linux and OpenBSD on my worstations exclusively, with mail programs that can't even render html email etc. The chance of me sending out or spreading an email virus is almost zero, yet I recieved hundreds of bounces warning me that the email I sent out contained a virus, from people I never even heard let alone even sent an email to in the first place.
