Learned that the hard way. Not even twitter makes it to my phone. Only use crap web sites versions for most things now. So many things want to know your location, contacts, ect.. When they don't need to. Sad time for computing.
I guess many of the prisons here were built so long ago by the Victorians they would seem like dungeons. We used to send people to Australia so they could live in paradise and eat great food.
Yes the program was extremely good/Insightful. I can't stand Portillo; but you could tell he'd given this a lot of thought over the years.
I'm against the capital punishment and against prisoners being kept in torturous prison for years (in principle). I'm not perfect, I would like to see Anders Breivik kicked to near death and sent to a prison in Saudi Arabia. I'll get 21 years in a really nice Norwegian prison. For the people that killed 1year old Peter Connelly (Baby P) well send them to North Korea and be creative. Rationality calls for more strength with cases like this.

The American people are the reason the penal system is so terrible. They want it that way. I've seen American prisons on the TV and it scares the fuck out of me. I'd not commit a crime in the US. Fear the man.
Mind you, If I copy a file here, the UK will have me extradited for a crime that isn't even a crime in my own land. Even when it is an infringement of copyright, they've not made a film or game I'd want to bother to download in years. I hope I'm safe not committing "cyber crime"; but I can't be sure. I'd better sign up to Amnesty International now I guess.
Having no other option from birth and learning to use just one hand from RIGHT NOW is a bit more of a learning curve. Plus its only for 6 weeks so not a worthwhile thing to get really good at. I think its more a case of being able to keep job until healed.
A bit of kit to keep depression at bay maybe the real reason. Nothing like retail therapy.
Speech to text is good these day. It is on my phone. that may help.
It's like any place, some departments better than others. Country wide, some places better than others.
I've had great treatment each time. The NHS is worth it.
Actually my easy comment gave " History's Coming To (1059484)" and "wisdom_brewing (557753)" a forum to add some interesting stuff. I particularly liked History's Coming To's post about Scottish education being different with their " five Highers". Scottish education had been better than the English system for a few hundred years and they produced some of the worlds best in many fields.
Lots of people read my precious comment and many gave up study on the spot.
Years of playing games and drinking beer cured me of being a complete narcissist. Now, I just recant how handsome I was to myself. You're right "adults shouldn't take stock and go wow" >>> all the time , They also shouldn't add bits to try to make a point - its really really bad syence!

That bit was the build up to the punchline sort of pointing out how the cutting edge always becomes normal. We just put a nuclear power car on Mars and 100 years ago we could hear air and hope for not death. A chair in the sky is amazing and the phone in your pocket makes Kirk's look like a pile of crap.
Adult should take stock and go WOW! Only children can say all your old stuff is shit.
Sadly I can't agree. It's not "important" as lots of people seem to get by, some even do well with very little science or maths. Lots of people have fantastic mental arithmetic; but never use it beyond a game of darts or gambling.
It should be important in our everyday lives. I can't disagree with that. If people had an understanding of what science strives for, when they read bullshit news paper lies they'd question the print.
Just had a play with google docs ORC from pdf/image tool. The typeset text came out, the hand written text (which is illegible for the most part) didn't and I didn't expect it to. I do hate pdfs for learning to code ebooks. I procrastinate lots, so I could easily re-typeset a whole book before I actually read it:)
I've worked with people who shouldn't be programmers and I'm sure many others have too. Can't program at all doesn't mean not able to get a job programming.
Mid level books that spoon feed difficult concepts are so thin on the ground in any topic. I'd like a dummies guide styled book on some complex stuff. Personally, I like to see animations of the process. I can read the text over and over and never get it. One little graphic and I get it first time. Programming is much a mental modeling exercise as anything else.

He will find him and make him squeal. I know a squealer when I see one ....

Will there be any jobs waiting for them when they come out of the system?
Around the time he was hanged.
Silverlight?
How much shock can you get from a USB port? I think I'll wait until SP2 before I try it.

Can you extract text from a pdf and keep basic layout formatting?

No they'd only fuck it up with some stupid DRM.

Skip an hour in for the internet bit.
I think Jobs summed it up all very well in 1995. The Internet needs to be run as a public trust.

I've never had the money to be a fan of apple stuff, but I like old tech interviews, especially when they talk about the future of the industry.
