    number given refers to the D/A converter.
    CD players, at least recently, also
    have a 96 bit D/A converter.
    It has nothing to do with the
    bit rate
    :)

    not exactly true, I've known people who have passed the Bar exam without going to college. It's difficult, but all you need to practice law legally is to have passed that Bar exam

    when i used to have a palm i used to have a hackmaster applet that allowed me to slide the pen across the application button to go foward and back between apps (it wasn't actually multitasking, but it was a neat hack) i'm prertty sure it's called switchhack

    Okay, we're really going off topic here, but c'est la vie :)

    Well, IANAM (I-am-not-a-marxist), but from what I know from studying their thought some, they would explain this as a cornerstone of the 'class war', since the reason that individual small investors buy stock, is so that they can get a monetary return on their investment, so that they can be richer; eventually joining the 'Bourgeoisie' if they are fortunate and or shrewd.

    Here's the secret to getting a real external dsl 'modem'. Tell the provider that you are planing to use the service with a usb-less laptop.

    cd players, at least discmen, are only baned during take off/landing.

    AFAIK, the only devices that are banned for the entire flight are actual radios and devices that send radio signals --like cell phones and beepers

    Well, IANAW (I am not a Whatever), but at sea, also international territory, if your vessel, oil platform, or what have you gets attacked, the government who's flag that ship flies is supposed to have jurisdiction over it. Attacking a U.S. boat is like attacking the united statess, and I would assume space would work the same

    My handwriting is so bad that it's considered a learning disability. On top of that, I simply cannot really think and write at the same tie --although I can type and think at the same time-- apparently, it has something to do with which nuerons (sp?) fire during each activity.
    MY handwriting was why I started using computers in the first place; okay, fine, Zork was a factor too

    according to the article, it does have tactile
    feedback. Apparently, the entire unit (or at least, the entire head of the unit --yes, the area that lookes like toes-- moves down with resistance)

    of the vendors that sell in europe compared to the U.S.

    Unless I am mistaken, RH is the #1 distro in the U.S., right, and S.u.S.E. (did i do the capitalization right ?:)) is the number one in Europe. RH uses Gnome by default, while S.u.S.E uses, again by default, KDE (unless things have changed).

    Also, Mandrake, which becuase of it's great language support, I assume is popular in Europe, uses, by default, KDE as well.

    , this is only a guess, but the ports are probably for a webtv type device. The ethernet is for the cable connection and the usb port is for a keyboard/mouse/controller type device.

    I believe that it was called the E-mate. From what I read about it, it was a newton with a keyboard and a clamshell case. I'm not sure that Apple ever actually made this product. Anyone know any differently?

    no, it was an outer limits
    episode, but they gave him either
    "based on", "concept by", or
    "original story by" credits, which means
    they weren't
    ripping him off,
    and instead were paying him
    for the use of the plot.
    plus, it was one of the better episodes, IMHO.

    i think they "innovated it" . I remember seeing ads in a tigerdirect mailer, years ago (time of early pentiums?), for
    this huge mouse that had many, many buttons --I
    think 5-- and a wheel that stood slightly behind the buttons. It was ugly and didn't look egronomic
    in the least, but it was first.
