Settle with whom? They can reach to a some-sort of agreement with DOJ, but those 19 states lawyers doesn't want this agreement. Read the article in the NY times (updated on the topic)

Well, let me correct my post (if I can):
I meant to put a public beta to companies like: SuSE, Caldera, TurboLinux, Corel (no Corel - only to registered is NOT enough)..
Call QNX and ask for prices for your Appliance. Now, call Lineo and ask for their prices. (Hint: Lineo is MUCH cheaper than QNX)
The guys at Lineo managed to squeeze Linux to 222k! and they have solved many RealTime problems that the original kernel had...
You can also hire some Linux kernel hackers to do the job and it will be much cheaper then taking QNX or other solutions..

Show me one Sun machine that you can just pop it out of the box and lets users work of it..
There is no such a beast..
Most of the times you'll need to throw lots of patches in, add few configuration files (look at configurations files in/etc), and many other tweaks.. so please!
Well, in the beginning (I'm talking about the days when Amiga 1000 came out with 256k RAM), Someone (probably from Amiga) created this red-white bouncing 3D ball. No one said anything about it (copyright license or anything), and everyone like that demo (along with the juggler demo) - so later Commodore (not sure) - made the red-white ball - the Amiga logo..
MS could contribute a Windows NT terminal server, and SCO could contribute Tarantella (Tarantella works well even if you have 9,600 baud modem - I tried that) - that way you'll get a windows screen with your browser, and you can do stuff remotely with other users..
I really don't know if MS, nor SCO will pick the glove here, and I donno how much an NT terminal server can hold users who are compiling stuff on 1 or some machines..
As much as I understand from reading in various web sites - the Network drivers were written from scratch without modifying any existing code - so IBM doesn't need to release the code for it (and Linus allows binary only module)
Posted what? I got this announcment this morning (Kdevelop 1.1 was out since saturday or sunday) and I posted it (I'm a/. author) - so what are you talking about? KDevelop Beta?
KDE is NOT a window manager - you can run KDE on other window managers - it comes with its own - but you can change that..
Also - its a full Desktop Enviroment (thats what the DE is for)
Also, another post suggested thats it only front ends for text applications - true for KDE 1.x - but on KDE 2.0 - thats a totally different story (want to try running KOffice from command line? good luck)
Someone here DIDN'T do their homework before posting!
All they did is removing unneeded parts of the kernel, and all the rest is written as modules. Now - you may want to know that Linus said that releasing modules as binary only is OK!
When you grab this compiler, you can use it, but you don't have to. You can use either MS, GNU tools, and lots of others..
With the IE example - you HAVE to install it. Try for example to install Visual Studio without any version of Internet Explorer. You can't. period. Why? because MS decided that in order to use Visual studio you'll have to use THEIR browser. Why can't it install only the essential parts (online help reader etc..) and the other functions will run on another browser? because MS doesn't want to.
Now do u understand why people like this news about BC++ and NOT IE?

Actually, someone from Redhat was on IRC and told me that they will release 6.2 RSN..
:)
And one of our members on Linux IL (Israel) User groups found it on metalab..
And - I'm a slashdot Author
As I posted - it is STARTING to get mirrored - NOT finished yet..
I talked to Hemos about this..
This issue will not be posted on slashdot until the product will be out (or at least a beta version). So for now - its vaporware..
There is another company who are also writing a software based DVD player - I cannot tell the name unfortunetly...
Well, the answer is simple: money
Call QNX and ask for prices for your Appliance. Now, call Lineo and ask for their prices. (Hint: Lineo is MUCH cheaper than QNX)

On the iMac - I Agree with u

Hmm, u seem to forget who also reads slashdot. thats right - AOL guys (and I don't mean the subscribers).. - so your link unfortuntely, is dead..
Oops, I mean excellent player... :)
huh?? I had previously a G2 (beta) player, and now I upgraded to the version 7 beta - the mailcap is perfect (with %u)
So far, excellent later. Nice to see that the installation recognizes KDE and added the player to it (in the personal menu)
Any help around with this?
OK, let me throw an idea here..
MS could contribute a Windows NT terminal server, and SCO could contribute Tarantella (Tarantella works well even if you have 9,600 baud modem - I tried that) - that way you'll get a windows screen with your browser, and you can do stuff remotely with other users..

Again - just an idea.
Well, thats true - many developers don't really comment what they write.. But if you want Linux kernel with comments, then check this at Amazon
Now THATS an interesting idea!
Care for explaining with more details how to do this?

Well, since this is PORTING and not re-inventing project - then SGI brings their experience with Failsafe.
Ofcourse, since Linux HA and FailSafe are open source - then the HA guys can grab (and look) at the source and make the HA better...
Someone here DIDN'T do their homework before posting!

Grow up! Do some Research before you post!
Ahhm, read again...
Real Player 7 will be available within 30 days (actully it will be available at mid. March).
Also, from what I understand from the RealNetworks guys - is that it will be using the KDE Docking features (this is not final yet)
Look again at KOffice - it DOES uses XML
OK, I'll answer this..

Well, I'm a slashdot author, but I'm also a reader. Do you think I like this shit that some anonymoud cowards putting here? I don't!
Hemos & Rob are thinking about some solutions for this issue. So please - HOLD your horses!
