The government may not see (or admit seeing) that campaign contributions and softmoney are nothing other than blatent, legalized bribery, but We The People have no trouble recognizing this for what it is.

    Really?

Then why do we keep voting for them?

  3. This will promote piracy. on Time Warner To Change DVD Region Coding System? · · Score: 1
I heard some argue that they are doing this so they can engage in regional price fixing. But this doesn't make sense. No matter how much lower the price is in another country the shipping cost would probably make it more expensive.

Another reason is for staggered releases. Movies often come out at different times at different countries. So if a movie comes out on DVD in the US people can't get it elsewhere.

But it seems this is flawed. Someone will figure out how to just translate the US verison into their own region. So people will buy these pirated verisons because they can't get it otherwise.

BTW, is it possible for someone in europe to buy a DVD player from the US so they have a player that can read US discs?

This would probably encourage people to look at porn just to annoy everyone.

One trick you could do Is put all the computers on a special web page. Leave the terminal, that page is programmed to send the computers to porn sites and put the computers sound on full blast. Sit back and watch the panic.

With effort it would be possible to figure out how to do this.

  10. I think video games have helped me on Video Games and ADD · · Score: 1
I think video games have helped me concentrate better.l I remember playing Civiliation II. I never finished a game.

Early in the game it was easy. You don't need to focus. Just move units for a couple of turns. Get up walk around then play a couple more turns.

Of course in the late game I have about 30 cities trying to plan production of all of them. The Zulus attacking the west the French attacking from north, and I am trying to attack the Romans to the south. Argh

I would quit. But when I restart it I have the same problem, now I can't remember what I was doing and I try to make a stratgy but have to manage all those cities Argh.

If you are wondering about RTS games(Warcraft.Age of Empires) When I first played AOE II online it was have my villager hunt deer, make a couple of villager, go chop lumber, then make a swordsman or two.

But teammates would complain about me being slow. I realize this game requires 100 percent focus from the very begining. This can be total agony. I stop focusing for 30 seconds and then I am not making villagers for the time. Against anyone good that would be a deficit difficult to over come.

I have basic drilled the first twenty minutes of the game and I think my focusing has improved.

One thing I noticed abou the article that this is mental exercise. But it is viewed as a treatment. Brain Power always seems to be viewed as fixed and cannot be exercised. But mental illness can be "treated".

I know this is nitpicking but I am very interested in seeing your answers.
