The beef is, we don't want it to be paid for by our tax dollars.
Can anyone explain to me how porn in libraries cost taxpayers money? It cost taxpayers nothing. What I don't want to my taxpayer dollars wasted on censorware.
I once tried the Dvorak keyboard. With normal typing I noticed a huge difference in the amount of movement my finger did. I used the home keys alot more
But I quickly ran into a problem. The problem was keyboard shortcuts.
If you look at them they are chosen for the QWERTY keyboard.
Undo Z

This is for the mac but most of these are similar on windows.
Of course on DVORAK these keys are all over the place.
So if you wanted to make a "better" keyboard layout you would have to take this into account.
I thought I might make a custom keyboard taking this into account. Of course this would take a lot of effort. And I am not a programmer and that does not help
I watched a documentary on the history channel about airships and I learn some very interesting thing.
In the 1930's air force actually created two airships, one for Alantic on for Pacific ocean. They were basically flying aircraft carriers and could carry about 6 planes. Both were be destroyed in storms in the late 1930's.
I wonder how they would have done in the war. They were filled with helium so one bullet would not make them blow up.
If technology developed differently we might have had a time where hundreds of airship carried passengers all over the globe. Of course the development of the jet engine put a end to this possiblity.
A few years ago I was in a public library and there were a couple of youths (under 15) downloading pornography to floppy disks.
So what? What terrible thing is going to happen because of this?
I think the best bet for schools and libraries is to avoid filtering and simply SUPERVISE the children. A little shoulder surfing never killed anyone. And if you are in a public place using a public access terminal, you really have no reasonable right to assume that the teacher or librarian would not do so.
Which would do what? Thing is this would probably encourge me to look at porn. To see how they would respond if they respond at all.
I often heard library and school computers should used for just research purposes. If that is true shouldn't we block all sites except.edu and.gov? Why should tax payer dollars go to your shopping spree on amazon.com?
Our society, even 10 or 20 years ago, would not have tolerated such youth-beamed depravity. These are the motivations that relentlessly drive the creation, production, and marketing of ever more Doom, Quake, Basketball Diaries, Marilyn Mansons, Mortal Kombat I and II and III and IV
Whenever I see a quote like this I always think what about the most violent tv show ever produced...Tom & Jerry. I remember one time I started watching it and I actually had to turn it off I was getting disturbed by the violence. And I had just stopped playing Quake. I mean how much dynamite do you need to kill a mouse
They are selling what?

The company plans to sell the Usenet
Which will become the biggest pile of crap ever sold in the history of mankind.
Originally, the internet served a specific purpose of allowing academics to communicate and further the development of social and scientific knowledge.
Of course, that is what they want us to believe....
Well I read the article and this has to do with video arcades.
"The law requires coin-operated games featuring graphic violence or strong sexual content to have warning labels and be kept at least 10 feet from nonviolent game machines. The machines must also be separated by a curtain or wall so minors cannot see them."
Who defines graphic violence or sexual content? Might as well use the front door as this curtain or wall.
"The law bars people under age 18 from such games unless accompanied by a parent or guardian."
It seems you can't just give your permission to allow your kid to play you actually have to be present. So seems this would be really inconvenient so it effectly bans violent video games for people under 18.
"but give that same boy a constitutional right to train to become a sniper at the local arcade without his parents' permission"
They are talking about a game called Slient Scope. The game basicly has a sniper rifle and you shot and bad guys trying to shot you. Of course these bad guys always have a indicator surrounding him so they are easy to find, also the sniper end is like 1 foot away from the screen. How this will help in being a real life sniper I have no idea.
I thought this too. But after reading some articles from Mozilla developers it is clear making a small fast browser was not a goal.
They believe the one and only reason Netscape lost the browser war was because Microsoft had a monopoly. Everyone wanted the bloat Microsoft just used it's monopoly power to push Netscape out.
Of course tbey never explain how IE defeated Netscape in the mac market, even though Microsoft doesn't have monopoly power there
Thing is that apple would not want to use Linux on these machines.
The Mac OS gets egg all over its face.
Of course Apple might be able to do this with Mac OS X just on the horizon....

Does anyonw know if these new G4s come with Apple Display Connections or VGA? I could not find that info anywhere on apples site
You could have the ultimate troll and get goatse.cx slashdotted all in one stoke!!
Or of course "ask your system admin for info"

I'm sorry sir, I'll talk slower
Of course how safe you feel has NO relation to how safe you actually are.
I would like it to work with Timex Datalink
If they really wanted to go all the way patent oxygen. You could get royalty payments from everyone on earth for breathing.
TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN

And this is relevent to the patent process how? :)
Maybe Princeton should get a patent on this. So then they could make the RIAA pay millions for the patent.
I found this website which does bank reviews. Many might find it interesting.

"Hey there a bunch of guys dumping AOL CDs outside"
"Cool we can just send them out again, and we were running out."
Sorry to sound like a troll. But just because that is how they say people get on the RBL. Does not actually mean that is actually what happens.

I mean they all have the same OS.
The only differences are RAM and processor.
But Apple managed to sell computer based on cuteness.
