just think about if for a second, where did these bad parents learn to become bad parents or not learn to become good ones. Part of it was the way that their parents brought them up and part of it must be the society that they live in, their schooling, there social networks and how they were arrived at.

Poor parenting is very much a social problem, it's your problem as much as anyone else's.

the problem is that it's not just the driver area you have to worry about, it's things like memory allocation and all kinds of other stuff and they do change frequently.

If you've ever installed the nvidia/ati drivers from 'source' you would know this the wrappers that the use to keep their binary drivers stable needed changing with virtually every kernel release.

this would be fine in the fanticy world were everyone releases specs for their hardware, but we live in the real world where companies don't want to release specs and don't want to have to update their drivers all the time. So, we don't get 'any' 3rd party drivers for linux

And there won't be, until manufacturers start writing (hopefully open source) drivers for Linux.

And they won't do that if the kernel API keeps changing every five minutes.

As a hardware manufacturer do you:
      A. Write a driver and only make a few modifications to fix bugs
      B. Write a driver for every single kernel release and have to continuously keep updating your driver (potentially introducing bugs) because the API keeps changing all the time.

No hardware manufacture in their right mind would write drivers for linux give that it's such a moving target.
