You have a decent point, but let us be realistic. It is important to understand what your tool does. I agree that it is Microsoft's fault for a poor security model. However, some blame can be shifted onto the departments deploying the MS products. They should recognize what the problems are with the software and inform the users.
A (probably bad) analogy:
Doing 100MPH on wet roads in my VW, and then abruptly turning the steering wheel would cause the car to spin and possibly kill me. Volkswagen did not design their car to not do this (here's where the analogy breaks down) and probably could not. However, when I took my driving instruction classes, I was told not to do things like that. Of course, many people could deduce why that maneuver would be a bad idea on their own, but none the less I was warned.
...because I am freaking smart enough to not click on things that I receive from people I don't know! Or even if it came from someone I know, I'll think twice.
God, all this gloating...
Just wait until Linux gets popular enough that people start writing virii/trojan horses that exploit stupid users.
Agreement. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the sandbox implementation in the Visual J++ "Virtual Machine" has a bunch of holes in it. Just seems par for the course...
Man I made an audio tape way back in the day of all my favorite game music and demo music. Sometimes I would load games just to hear the tracks on the intros....
I am drooling over the vaporous pictures of a Dreamcast Ethernet adapter. You do know what this means, right? Once you get your console on a LAN, you just sniff the packets and reverse engineer the protocol. Shouldn't be too terribly difficult if a few people worked together. Then you save your own copies of the games, and server them to your console from your PC.
This is just a bunch of people doing it for fun. Who the hell is talking about running planes and missiles off of Macs in old case...or any Mac at all??
I like it. It's fun. It's like swapping a VR6 into a first gen. Rabbit and spanking all those turbo civics.
I have also decided to hate the following books without reading them:
Harlequin Romance Novels Rascist Hate Literature Religious Pamphlets Most books available in Airport Bookstores
Why? Knowledge of the subject matter.
My mind is open, I already read 95% of the books contents on Slashdot the first time arround. Why would I re-read these comments plus John Katz's patronizing and selfserving commentary?
Bill Gates was not much of a hacker. A person that needs database->web access "as easy as 1-2-3" would obviously also require copious documentation for a freakin' web browser.
I think you are keeping it MS-Real 2000, and you'll have to upgrade next year. Does your world spin backwards as well?
After a few hours of playing Tokyo Extreme Racer, I find my traffic sorting skills are finely honed. I go out and cut through traffic on i95 at 120MPH plus. Wooohoo!
Actually no, but when I play the game I road rage at the stupid hick-em-up trucks that cut me off when I've driving.

They're all gonna learn English. Oh yes, learn English they must. Cause nearly all existing code and software is in...(drumroll)...English! And there's nothing the computer industry/world likes better than backwards compatibility and tradition.
So......
I believe the link was http://www.learnenglishfast.com/
What gives you the right to tell these people how to spend their money? The money you spend on your education could feed plenty of destitute 3rd worlders. Just shut up.
I tried it for 2 weeks. I was bored and lonely! I also found it very hard to concentrate on my work at times because of other distractions. 2-3 days a week works great as it allows me to take care of things that need to be done during 9-5 on a business day and still get my work done. Even with a DSL connection and VPN I find the office net more responsive. Our overworked admins and support people are much easier to communicate with in person: you can just bump into them in the hall with no worries of whether their SameTime "away" status just means they are ignoring people.

C'mon 'boys'....
Wonder if there is a contract with Katz involved....
I don't know what kind of shop /you/ work in, but where I'm pounding the keys if data is revocably lost, you'd best start looking for a new job.

Gotta go find it!

Basically making it known that if things are done the 'wrong' way as suggested, I take no responsibility for the design descision.
The DeCSS thing is a /joke/ yah moron...
Read my reply to the other guy as to my reasons for the post you are now (pathetically) flaming.

But how much processor does to take to decode compared to MP3? It would have be at least as efficient...
Sounds like ChickLickers to me...
And yes, there is a rise....

Did that post really /really/ make you roll on the floor laughing? 'Cause if it did, I'm so very sorry...
It ain't all that.

Should be under 'Zico's post.
If I use my forward and back buttons to navigate such a site, I'm taking needless trips to the server! I HATE that!
Guess Momma Listen Up shouldn't be expecting grandchildren any time soon, eh? MmmmmHMMMM! I sure do love some Revisionist History.
